Thats pretty much my riding style anyways.GravityFreakTJ said:Yeah but I would imagine with that bike/fork/shock combo you can point and shoot. My Gemini is only 37lbs but you have to pick your lines and finese(spl?) it.
I'm just the oposite, I'm faster on my bigger bike than my other bikes.GravityFreakTJ said:The Gemini has defintely made me change my riding style. That's not actually a bad thing as it seems to have made me a little faster.Maybe it's because I have to pick better lines? My old Straight 8 i raced last year was a point and shoot bike(45lbs.) and it was an adjustment getting on the Gemini.
I would assume it all has to do with riding style?Your bike looks like it would just demolish anything in its path neaky: . I swore after the Bullit I wouldn't have another single-pivot but i have to say I have been impressed with the ride quality of the Gemini.Brian HCM#1 said:I'm just the oposite, I'm faster on my bigger bike than my other bikes.
It pretty much does, especially rims this yearGravityFreakTJ said:I would assume it all has to do with riding style?Your bike looks like it would just demolish anything in its path neaky:

Funny, - I know the problem. Just having my hubs build on some new Arrow DHX. I think that should hold up for a while.Brian HCM#1 said:It pretty much does, especially rims this year
4 in 3 months, 1 lasted 1 day and another lasted 2 daysGravityFreakTJ said:Once again would say that's due to riding style. How many you gone thru?
What type of rims do you eatBrian HCM#1 said:4 in 3 months, 1 lasted 1 day and another lasted 2 days

I never had a problem when I was using Intense tires with DH tubes on 321's. I was able to run them down to about 15-18 psi, tubeless is another story.seismic said:OK ! I think it would happen to whatever rim. Too low pressure...big rock...bang...no more rim......new rim...low pressure...bang.......well, I see the point.
Thats pretty much it. However found using 14g Wheelsmith spokes keeps the wheel a little stronger than the DT's.seismic said:......bang.....new rim......bang.......new rim...low pressure....bang .....
I actually like them more than DT's and I've used both, I find these work better for me.seismic said:Are they much stronger than "the average" spoke ?
i had issues dropping to flat with 8in of travel at 40psi, i hate those rimsBrian HCM#1 said:Well, I only had issues with the rims at Northstar, where its pretty much all rocks.
I don't know what I'm gonna do, for now I'll keep riding the 823's.seismic said:I think it is worth it going with something burly on the big bikes on the rough courses.
are the new DH tubeless rims available (the yellow Deemax ones but in black)?Brian HCM#1 said:I don't know what I'm gonna do, for now I'll keep riding the 823's.
Kinda sorta, Joe Pozer had one on his Cortina, but it flat spotted toopunkassean said:are the new DH tubeless rims available (the yellow Deemax ones but in black)?
i just called the LBS and ordered the newest Mavic 823 rim. He said he'd check with his mavic rep to see if the 05's are available.Brian HCM#1 said:Kinda sorta, Joe Pozer had one on his Cortina, but it flat spotted too
I used one of those for 1 day with the same results. Stans, Michilen @ 32 psi.narlus said:brian, save yrself the hassle and use 729s. given yr self-proclaimed size, riding style, and riding conditions (not to mention results), what argument could there possibly be to stick w/ the 823s???
Yep, it was one of the new 05's, however it looks like a poor build to start with when I went to try to true it.Jimmy_Pop said:i just called the LBS and ordered the newest Mavic 823 rim. He said he'd check with his mavic rep to see if the 05's are available.
so youre saying that this guy flat spotted the new 823 ?
when you ruined all your rims, were you hitting the rim thru the tire due to low pressure?
joel
i think im prepared to order the mavics and take my chances. better than dealing with the ghetto set up.
