New Best Gloves?

So, I think I found my next pair of gloves.
I was in a bike shop in Squamish on the way back from Whistler, and saw these carbon Specialized gloves, which got me dreaming about the Dainese gloves that I wanted but are far too much money. The Specialized gloves made me realize how much nicer it would be to have REAL knuckle protection with carbon bling factor, but $99CAD is still a high price to pay for a pair of gloves that will be abused more than any other piece of biking equipment I own (save tires, shoes and pedals).
So, I just found this article/gear shot on the new Ridge Sport Carbon Gloves. They intrigued me because they seemed to have the benefits of the carbon protection of the Specialized gloves (while lacking some, but not the most important inserts), and having wrist support that the Specialized gloves lacked. So, reading this article got me thinking that they'd be nice to have, but once I saw the price of $50CAD, I realized that this was how much I usually spend on gloves anyway (or nearly)! So, why the heck would I buy anything else? As soon as my stubbornly good quality Knucklebone MotoPro's wear out, these are mine :)
Just thought I'd share :)

MX gloves, from $15-35.

Beats the hell out of "mountain bike" gloves.

Oniel, Fox, Thor, etc....

which model?
Fox Static. These are the first gloves that have fit my hands perfectly. They fit so well it was like they made them just for me. They have nice thin palms, good proctection and the wrist supports are nice.

 Honestly I can't say that I like the looks of those gloves. Plus they don't have carbon knuckles??

Well, so far I'm finding this thread interesting when it comes to responses.
I posted these gloves (with the review linked for those of you who missed it) because I think they take the cake.
The other offered alternatives either don't have the:
Carbon knuckles (Fox Static, most MX gloves, especially the affordable ones)
Wrist support (nearly every glove except the Static), or the
Low price (NoFear Elite, Fortress). Submit and purchase.

Why would you want wrist support? When I shop for gloves, I look for a pair that will give me the most uninhibited wrist and finger movement. I usually buy long finger road gloves. Really good bar feel and cool in the summer.

same - for some reason I don't like anything tight on my wrists.

On a more serious note- I recently had a pair of Fox Matrix gloves. These are really good for all around riding and the white/red ones help let you know where your hands are. Very thin and cool (temp). No protection though.

I got a pair of the '05 Answer Alphas-
Really nice, but the thumb is alittle funky feeling untill you get them broke in. Same deal with the color. you don't lose your hands in your periferral vision.

might just be me, but can you please explain to me why it's so important to see your hands when you ride?

last weekend the bike got kinda unstable at 40 mph on the trail, and i looked down and Damn! turns out my hands were picking out a tune on a banjo.

moral: keep an eye on those hands. this near-accident could have been prevented if i'd been wearing those bling-bling gloves w/ the flames.

Studies show in coordination drills for hand/eye coordination, that wearing dark color gloves is a hindrance. In the studies, they found that the hand/eye coordination and dexterity of athletes, workers, etc when wearing highly visible gloves was slightly better than those with black or brown gloves.

I think the study used assembly workers, football wide receivers, motorcycle riders and a few other fields. That was one of the big "mysterys" behind Steve peat switching to the solid white Troy Lee XC gloves a few years back. It was a rumored that his coach had him switch to them for that reason, not the "bling" factor.

Is hand-eye coordination really part of bicycle riding?? I NEVER look at my hands while riding, and since they don't ever come off the bar, there's not much to do with 'em. I could see if I was a tennis player or something.....

can we make this at least a 4-page thread about overpriced "mtb" gloves?
