Spring rolled around and as usual I got new bike fever. I had no issues with my old bike but I wanted something new. After doing some research and some test riding I ended up going with an Iron Horse MK3 comp from rscycle.com.
Build:
Fork - RockShox Pike 454 Dual Air
Wheels - Azonic Outlaw
Brakes - Avid Juicy 5. 7" up front, 6" in the rear.
Drivetrain - Sram x.9 shifters, x.9 rear der, x-gen front der, PC-990 cassette, PC-99 chain
Cranks - Hone 2 ring
Pedals - Crank Brothers Candy C
Stem & Bars - Easton EA70 w/Easton Vice stem
I am really liking this bike. It climbs really well. A huge improvement from the single pivot I was on before. I would have to say that the rear suspension is just as plush, if not more than my old bike too. The build is definitely not the lightest but I hate it when things break.
I had ridden it a couple of times but I wanted to take it on a longer ride. Last sunday I headed out to downieville. The conditions were great. I climbed up 1st divide, 2nd divide, down 3rd divide and then back out 1st divide. I think it's about 15 miles and 1700 feet of climbing.
I snapped this pic on the way back. This is on highway 89 heading into Sierraville, CA.
