maybe, but the cables loop is fairly large, and i think that bottoming it out the cable can be pushed through the top cap

What I'd be concerned about is pinching the cable between the tire and the arch, kinking the cable, and locking the brake. That could hurt.

A bunch of guys at my work are doing that on their P.1 Chromo's. They are using a star nut I think. Its pretty tight though.

Sweet. The set up on one of the Chromo's is sweet. Hes got the BMW Shin Bergers on it.....ouch! Hurts to think of them.
