Even though Campagnolo has taken a step back, reassessed its technologies and then presented three impressive new groups for 2009 one thing hasn’t changed: The price of the 11-speed Chorus group will remain the same as it was in 2008 for the 10-speed version. That’s amazing, considering that Campagnolo has infused a wealth of technology and insists in manufacturing its top groups in Vincenza, Italy.

While no price change for Chorus is amazing, the 2 percent decrease in the price of the Record group should knock your socks off. Yes, the price of Record will drop, despite the redesign and the inclusion of ceramics as standard equipment. While the group was expensive to begin with, it is obvious that Campagnolo is making an effort to put the customer’s best interest in mind with the pricing of its new groups. Along that same line, Campy will add a year to its warranty for all three groups, bringing its guarantee to four years, which is best in class coverage among the industry’s racing components.

After all the discussion about Dura Ace's huge price increases, this is truly amazing.

Perhaps their last increase was sufficient to cover the R&D costs of the new group or... lowering the cost of the new gouppos could result in increased market share for Campagnolo. Unlike Shimano devotees, Campy buyers do not upgrade with the seasons. Those who pimp Dura Ace must have the latest incarnation, those who love Campy will run the same group for 10 years or more. Maintaining the current price structure seems like a wise move that could attract many of Shimano's top end customers.

After all the discussion about Dura Ace's huge price increases, this is truly amazing.

This is slightly misleading, as it's going to cost more because of the Dollar/Euro conversion. Yeah, they dropped the cost 2%, but the Dollar has dropped 20%+ since last year so it's not going to cost the same.
Also, they took the titanium out of Record, and put it into Super Record...

Considering that Colorado Cyclist is able to mail order sell Campagnolo stuff for just dollars more than I can get it from QBP and Ochsner's, I'll continue to focus my efforts to sell on Sram and Shimano.

Yeah I totally agree, seems people keep forgetting there is a difference between Record and Super Record. At least, those that are young enough to not remember the difference from before!

And I admit, I am lusting after super record, pretty much regardless of the cost.
