I’m in serious need to of a new fork for my Azonic saber. I think I have narrowed it down to either the Rock Shox Pike team or the Marzocchi All Mountain 1. I have a Black Elite right now and its totally shot. I’m just vary unsure of how they stack up ageist each other. I am totally unfamiliar with Marzocchi forks and the AM1 looks like its got a lot of crap in it. The Pike seems like a simpler fork and it has more range of travel adjustment. I’m more of a set it and forget it kind of person I don’t want to have to mess with settings on the fork every time I’m riding. And I don’t care what people say about RS being crap I have never had any problems with any for I have ever had from them. And I have a First Generation SID on my hard tail.

Why what other forks should I be looking at?
fox?

I've got a talas on my enduro and it's the best trail bike fork I've owned in terms of weight, performance and durability. I've owned severel zokes, a psylo and a black elite in that realm. Zokes are great just heavier than the fox.

I had a feeling you were going to say Fox. I like the TALAS a lot but its way to expensive. I’m really looking at the RS because its going to be the cheapest out there for what you get. Money is becoming a big issue I just cant afford to put 5 or 6 hundred in to a fork.

For an Azonic Saber, I'd put a Manitou Sherman (any level, flick will do just fine) or a 'zocchi Z1. You can find deals on either fork used. Fox makes a nice fork, too, if you can find one for a good price.

I don't think the lighter forks really compliment the frame...Fox 125mm Float or Z1 SL would be as light as I'd ever go.

I thought about them but I have a few problems. They are all over built and have more travel then I really need. For the kind of riding I’m doing I don’t need 150mm fork. I have a 125mm black elite and it is enof travel for me. The bike is 32lb now and I don’t want to make it much heavier. Also I want a thrue axel fork with a quick release. But I kind of think its over kill and I don’t want to have to spend more money to get a different mount for my roof rack.

In any case, I think a Fox is right up your alley. The new air freeride fox (36 or whatever) would be awesome if you wanna pay tons and be a guinea pig...otherwise, buy a new Vanilla R (forget the RLC, just get a cheap one...same damping and chassis) or a used Float air fork. They have a 9mm QR, so you won't have to change your rack, either.

Just look around for deals on Fox forks on ebay. There are usually plenty 2003, soon probably 2004 forks listed.

With luck you should be able to get one those 2003 vanilla r's new for less than 300$. They're simple, reliable, super slick forks.

Hey man, I just set a maverick fork in motion to head my way. that means I'm about to have a TALAS RLC up for sale. If you're not in a hurry (like next week), let me know if you're interested. I just changed the oil in it today and gave it the once over. Send me a PM if it's something you might want.
