In brief it is supposed to give more usable travel (all 80mm?) and rebound adjustment. The upgrade is available in the US in November (now), and have confirmed this with the local bike store.
I am trying to gather pricing info at the moment, and am tempted to upgrade my current headshok (super fatty ultra DL) to this. If you find any additional info or reviews on this please let me know, I am very interested in finding out more.
I've never had any issues with the Headshok aside from not being able to get full travel out of it - but this seems to be a trend with most, if not all air shocks. You generally lose 5-10mm of full travel since the air cannot compress infinitely.
Older headshoks had their problems, but as long as you keep your boot in good shape, lube it up once in a while it will work flawlessly without much maintenance. And its only one of few forks that have true lockout - turns it completely rigid for pavement, fireroads and climbs when you need it.
This upgrade should put it on par with other forks out on the market in terms of adjustment.
