can someone explain this new labelling of Mavic rims?

whats a 321 or a 521 then, and what are the others?

the 823 is not a ust compatible 321, it is much narrower and lighter.

essentially, the higher the number, the better quality the rim. even numbers are UST, odd numbers are standard tube.

823 = very poor man
823 = has spots in it they are flatter than Debra Messing.
823 = is numeric for running back to Singletracks so I can eat.

the first digit is the quality. the higher the number the better, the 2 following digits are the inside width of the rim in millimeters.

after the change the numbers make sense, before that, they didnt!
