kinda, but it's got a linkage and eccentric bottom bracket, similar to the gt's.
maybe I spoke to soon. The proto's I had seen earlier in the year had a similar set up to the i-drives, this looks as though it may be different though

MBA should love this bike.... with the name and all.
Mongoose actually had a "Black Diamond" line before MBA coined the term. Guess RC thought mongoose was leading edge

sherpa you can say the same thing about GT, Schwinn, Dimonand back, and many others. as for the name black dimonand mongoose has named their FR rides that for years. i remember about 5 year ago i work at sports athourity and could have prodealed on there and almost did. i know mongoose has a bad reputation now but remember their past when they were really good. maybe they are tring to be that companie again. as for the linkage that is used on the bike it is like the linkage on the new schwinn rockets. it is really efficant and stiff(i got to ride on of the new schwinn bikes, they are accutaully really nice) it works on the same idea as the i-drive from gt.

lets give to bike a chance at least. i know i would like to try one

Actually no, you can't. GT is still making high-end product that is not available in department stores. And can you name any other brands other than Schwinn, Diamond Back, and Mongoose that used to be good but are now pieces of crap? Cuz I sure can't.

Then why does Mongoose's pro team ride Turner bikes that say Mongoose on 'em?

because mongoose never made a dh bike, but only light to mid weight fr bikes. think would you race a giant ac in pro level races.
EC didn't race a DH bike to victory in the worlds. I wonder what Tara races...oh yes, a Giant VT!

Eric rides for the Mongoose pro team, racing in Mountain cross, correct? Does he ride a Mongoose bicycle? No, he rides a Turner 5-Spot, a "light freeride" bike. Mongoose made light freeride bikes, why not race one, in moutain cross? The last time that I had checked, Tara Llanes rides for Giant Bicycles, that V-10 that she rides must be seriously blue to sneak it past the Giant tent and get wheeled into the Santa Cruz tent at Norba races.

From what I hear he will nw be riding the mongooses. Whatdo you guys have against them? The have been making quality bmx bikes that you can not buy in walmart for a long time. I saw an ad in dirt for there street HT which looked really nice.

Have any of you guys seen their DH bike. My friend has one and all the Mongoose sponsored riders in Australia use them. They have 6-10 inches of travel (only get 10 with 24inch wheel) and the linkage can be adjusted in like 49 different positions. My friend has one and he is now probably the fastest in his age group, coming off a Specialized Bighit comp with boxxers.

Also Steve Marsh, who some of you may know because he came 4th in the Redbull Ride in 2003, uses a Mongoose DH 1. He used that bike in the competition (this track snapped a ChumbaWumba) and he is also in the top 10 elite men in DH in Australia on this bike, and he goes HUGE.

Here's the Bike-

Actually comes with an MRP and has a spare DNM shock along with the Fox.

However, I have no idea why EC Carter doesn't use one of these bikes. I have only seen them in Australia, and I have only seen this bike on the Australian Mongoose website, but I don't see why the bike would just come from Australia.

I'm also thinking of getting one with insurance money (some mongrels stole my Bighit)

that is a knok off of the azonic emiliator but it is not exactly that same. so they do make a dh bike, for some reason they don't list it on their web site.

OK, the Mongoose Black Diamond name came from a KISS theme, there was the Black Diamond, Hardluck, and Duece models (all KISS songs)...just happened to fit with the ski theme too. The bikes do use the same patent at the GT but it is a different take and results in a really good axle path and neutral braking (check out the Dirt article). Word is that EC will race this suspension design in both DH and 4X next year, this is the development year. Mongoose has said they are commitmented to come back to the high end. Anyone who has a beef with a brand selling in Walmart and high end stores should not buy anything from Sony as well as a slew of other companies. It is possible to be in two types of markets just not with uptight bikers.
