new parts??

I am new to mountainbiking are most of the parts interchangeable?? I have an ok beginner bike..but I am thinking when things break.uhh.[I mean wear out.] I will just replace them with the next step up...like derailers ...rotors...etc... thanks in advance for any help.....

Some are, some aren't, depends greatly on the part and company. Like if you busted your alivo or LX derailuer and wanted to go to XT or XTR.........yes, rotors are a little more "fussy" as some are different thickness's and such, but you can make any rotor with with a brake as long as the size is right.

But if you're frame is threadless 1 1/8 headset type, normal bottom bracket, has disc tabs, then yes you should be able to put 99% of parts onto it. I just always stick with brands that are together because their stuff usually works better. Hayes brakes get hayes pads, parts, rotors etc.....

The only parts I know that DONT interchange well is shimano and SRAM stuff. I know SRAM makes shifters to work with shimano but they are junk. If you go SRAM, get all SRAM stuff (shifter/derailuer). Same goes for shimano. Keep it all one kind.
