My EE/CS son came home from college and decided I needed a new system. One Newegg order later, one AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 6000+ 3.01 ghz 2 GB RAM 350 GB HD is up and running.... wow.
He even reloaded all my software and files for me.

It's simply an inferior processor compared to the new Intels.

I just got a new one too. Some Compaq that was on sale for $200 at BestBuy. Nothing special, but it's my first new computer since 1999, so it seems pretty durn fast to me.
