As the title says, I'm new to downhill. I've always been a great fan of the sport but never lived in an area where riding locations were readily available. Seeing as how I just moved to Germany however, that's changed. The main thing I'm looking for right now is a bike. Can anyone tell me of a good rig to start out with? Also, any tips or advance would be great too. Any information anyone can offer would be awesome, thanks.

Don't buy a DH monster bike with tons of travel unless you want to race. If you just want to have fun, go with a flickable bike with 6"-7" travel and DH-ish geometry.
Those bikes are sometimes called "slopestyle bikes".

I think Germany has quite many brands with nice and affordable builds. You didn´t say how much you are going to spend on the bike nor do you want to build it from parts or do you want to buy complete bike. Fusion(above) and Canyon Torque (FRX or FR for you), are good priced complete builds I think. If you want some more special and build it from parts try Nicolai UFO ST.
