MBC and I made our usual trip to Mt Snow this weekend and decided to try something new. I went for the snowboard and MBC went for the tele skis.

I went snowboarding once before, maybe three years ago. Surprisingly, I seemed to retain some of that knowledge. I was at the lift for the bunny hill at 8:00 AM this morning, but the lift wasn't open so I decided to just hit the big hill. The first two runs beat the living crap out of me, but after that I seemed to get the hang of it and almost looked like I knew what I was doing:

I fell a lot and am sore as hell. No real injuries except maybe my shoulder. I'll have to see how that feels in the morning. My hips are killing me. I am not ready to hang up the skis just yet, but I'm going to keep my eyes open for a good deal on a snowboard. :)

MBC on the teles! Her first couple of runs were a challenge, but she did great for day one of her tele career. :D

She is now complaining of sore thighs and an inability to stand without feeling pain. :D

Mt Snow is still in real good shape for "spring" skiing. Damn near felt like January today.

you know once you get the hang of that Snowboaring thing , you may give up your Ski.
I was never this sore when I was learning how to ski. :dead: When you learn to ski, you can stay in a snow plow and not fall down a lot. Learning to snowboard though, it's like I went 15 rounds with the ground.

Good stuff - props to you guys for trying something sorta new.

Conditions look very good as well.

I spent the weekend cleaning up after two sick boys. :( Both kids had the stomach bug over the weekend. Not fun for them or for their Dad.

MMMMmmmmmmm corduroy...

Been a while since I tried tele skis. I'd like to try it again with the new cool gear they've come out with.

MBC has the right idea. Tele is great for the thighs/aerobic. The learning curve vis a vis boarding is far less punishing on the body.
Seems that many older boarders who are nubies to snow or have made a conversion from skis, seem to stay on the easier hills. That
may be pleasant, but from a fitness point, what is the point unless you can graduate to the pipe, park or woods. As for me,
I'll stick to hammering moguls on twin tip bump skis.....and yes, I've seen Tele skiers hammering the moguls as well.....very impressive.
