I hope it works out. I am really excited because VNC work on it.

It's funny, I saw it during Harold and Kumar. I thought it was a cell phone.

It just shipped :)

Will do. They need to invent transporters so I can receive products instantly.

This waiting game is already killing me.

Yeah great. As if we're not wasting too much of our lives on the internet already... now we get to carry it with us at all times and waste much more. I know that's not a new concept, but Im posting it anyway.

Ok, this thing is awesome. I am in love, I blew off the gf to mess with it some more today.

VNC viewer is the best thing ever. It's so easy to check on torrents, downloads, video rips ect. from anywhere. I also used it to c]check my work computer today during lunch.

I am using it as a remote for my media center via bluetooth

Awesome media player called Canola, no eq though...

Pidgin operates on it seamlessly.

With a bit of tinkering I got Abiword to operate on it.

Long surfing life ~3hours nonstop w/ downloads.

The batteries are cheap. I bought two for ten bucks on ebay.

it has 2 SD card slots. I now have 16gigs of storage, waiting on a 16gb sd card to show up for 24 gigs.

Great gui, easy to work with, very adaptable. It also has easy access to terminal.

I wish I could strip the DRM of my Itunes library. I would run Linux on everything.

It's a little bigger than an Itouch, but that's fine. My hands are massive and I always had trouble holding the itouch.

This also has a built in stand, really nice for watching movies/ youtube ect.

Oh, it also has a webcam built in.

Buy one, you will not regret it.

NEVER blow off your girlfriend for electronics, especially if you think you can get her to blow you off :)

Glad you like the device, sounds pretty cool! As for stripping DRM, there are a ton of options out there, just do a search. The easiest way to do it is burn a CD and then rip the CD back to your computer. That can take awhile though if you want more than one or two albums!

Give us a real review after some time. I'm waiting for a wifi cell phone that isn't $500.
The Nokia n800 and n810 are NOT cell phones. The only calls you can make with them are with VOIP. They are Maemo Linux based internet tablets. Their primary purpose is to provide laptop functionality in a size that fits into your pocket, but without having to haul your laptop around.

I picked up the n810 a few months ago. It allows me to connect to Wi-Fi hot spots - such as the one during my commute home from work on the train - and check email and login to my desktop via an SSLVPN to be productive instead of doing nothing for 50 minutes.

Of course most days, I just surf RM or wherever.....

Yeah, I figured that out. All the comparing to the i-phone had me confused.
I am looking for something to replace my stolen laptop. What are the differences between the n800 and the n810.
Newegg has the 810 for $400. That seems like a lot more money.

edit: why does a capital N followed by an 8 show up as a red X?

The problem is that I have well over 1000 purchases on itunes.

I used to use a program called Jhymm, but it no longer works.

Skype works awesome btw.

Not sure how quick you plan to buy, but there's supposed to be a new wimax version coming out that should cause the n810/800 prices to drop.

Comparisons:

You can get some info here as well:

the author of the second article did not check his facts.

They both have a 400mhz clock speed.

They run Identical OS

the size for the SD cards is only limited by the size of sd cards available.

Maemo OS 2008 runs on all Nokia tablets 770, 800, 810.

Both run a mozilla browser.
