meh i guess i can post a ride report, since you's guys are looking for one.

I hit up Wisp (west maryland) on Sunday. The bike felt really good. Absoloutly rails on corners, and the rear end is very active. With my set up, I have a zero stack FSA reduction headset, and low riser bars, so the front end is low, makes the bike handle like a champ.

Feel free to ask for more info
what is the brake & pedal interplay like with the suspension?
what fork/shock combo were you running? how did the rear end ramp up? it was active, but did it bottom, or ramp up? any pedal smacking with the low bb height? any jumps/drops/big hits? gimme gimme gimme!

not mine. from the transition site. the pink looks washed out, but it is growing on me. nice shark-fin on the seat tube. must be the large.

come on brown santa!

*edit* - guess the "large pink" text in the corner confirms my guess.
Adam,

Any word on Brown Santa?:thumb: The pink is going to look sick!!

ups tracking says it is here today. probably in about 3 hours. i told my boss i was "getting sick" and will need to leave early :)

i'm checking with cynergy to see how long it will take them to prep the frame. i still need the spider though :( i may just need to get a chainwheel and bolt it to the cranks.

the bike should be here by 3pm. as soon as it arrives, i am going to the shop. they are open 'till 6:30 and think they can take my rig and get it done before closing. after that, i head home to build the remainder. the only part i don't have is the spider. that will be here tomorrow. yay!

I doubt that is an MC, it is the MC design but not under the MC name, you will see another manufacturer selling this bike in the near future...
Yes, that is Carter Holland's Mountain Cycle Battery. I was going to make him put the stickers back on because he stayed at my hotel suite every night. Ask him about his "sock", hehe.
Phil Sundbaum, Jim Dellavalle, and Stephanie Nychka alo rode Batterys up there. I was going to race Biker-X on the light build one, but fell in practice. I think that one is under 30lbs.

i posted some pictures on the previous page or two

heres one:

thats the build for now, the shock will be replaced at some point, and I have a guide coming soon, so I've just been riding it with a front deraileur for now.

So no pedal smacking. Hit couple jumps, felt great, did one drop, felt fine too. I havn't had a chance to tune the front/rear suspension too much yet, but havn't had any major problems with blowing through the travel or anything.

rest of pictures here: http://www.freeride.org.vt.edu/coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=97

I'll probably be racing it at a regional race this coming weekend (Wisp race), so i'll have an even better impression then

Thanks. I'll do my best to get these things dialed and into production. How do you like the two builds?

so what is the wisp hill like? I need to get down there...
Wisp is not that big, theres about 3-4 fun trails including the race course. Not too technical, not much elevation, but just fun to ride. There is also a pretty good DS course.

Ofcourse Snowshoe is a bigger mountain, and has a lot more to offer, but it is a lot farther for some folks, thats why it's great that Wisp is open as well.

got mine 85% built yesterday!
i need to finish the cranks. the deity axle is too long for my BB tool, so i gotta go to the shop and get another tool. i also need the spider for the cranks to arrive in the mail today. then i can put them on, along with the chainguide, and get the derails set up.

i cannot wait! the bike feels pretty darn long (size large, and i am 6'1"). i did not expect it to be. probably feels this way because i have been on a smaller bike for a while now (17" hardtail).

my HT got a ding and a scratch in shipping. i am pissed. but it looks to be only cosmetic.

the guys at cynergy were great. i am glad i went to them to press in the headset.

should be done later today. maybe even an evening ride :)

Looks great and Cynergy is a great shop. They've worked on both my Yeti's and I couldn't be happier.

Wilson Sunday to her broke in?

I like it. My Vagrant had two marks in the paint from shipping . . .

I am not going to notice in a month though.

The Transition Bottle Rockets are hella nice bikes. I know a couple guys who rode them at Crankworx. The bike seemed well suited to the big rough course.

Would I be an a-hole for hijacking this thread and posting new MC Battery slopestyle photos?

Noway man post pics of the bottlerockets and Batteries...I would love to see them, i was initially going to get the MC but it fell through...

Like i posted above Transition is going to make a super short travel verson of the bottlerocket as well. Dubbed the Roman Candle...(kidding about the roman candle), but the bike is in the works.

i know, but it has become a bigger subjet. i'm not upset about it. it just seems that another thread with an appropriate title might generate more interest from people who are interested in MC.

I did ask but i agree with mandown, i wanted to see the pics not derail the thread...guess that is a hard task to ask...
I agree. There are other threads with the MC bikes in them. Please ask your questions there. Again, Transition is an awesome company and the Bottle Rocket is the hottest production frame out IMO.

much respect to the new MC threads.

i also gotta agree with twisted about the popularity of this rig. the view counter shows this is the 4th most viewed thread, right behind the burly HT, the BMW porn, and the custom helmet threads.

I don't care "how popular" The B.R. is or if other people like it. Kinda like another company (T.F.) who built a bike that the guys wanted to ride themselves. It just makes sense and is the type of bike that I'd want to ride.

38lbs. as shown.
again, not the final build. still gotta put the DRS, the front derail, and the deity cranks on her.

i just pedaled around in the street yesterday. it doesn't feel heavy. the front of the bike is higher than i expected and higer than i am used to riding. the top tube feels longer than expected. but the short chainstays make it pretty nimble. the steering feels slack through the first few degrees of turning the bar (67* HA) then snaps into action thanks to the short stays. riding with my body weighting the front makes the bike feel nice and stable over curbs). moving off the back, the front pops up nice. easy, but not too easy. i think i am going to try narrower bars with a lower rise (currently with FSA DH400). any suggestions?

my chain spider arrived yesterday, but it went to the wrong house. i wanna get that thing at my place so i can put the cranks on. i hope the guy who got it (only a few doors down) still has it. i'm knocking on his door when i get home.

those advantages look nasty...How do they ride. After riding my bike last night (see ride reports section), i really wish i had a front derailure on my bike, i think i might loose the guide and put a f derailure on it after the parks close for the season.

It would also be really nice to build this bike up with some lighter bits like some cross max xl's or something...I think i might be tweaking my build a bit after the season is over. Just to make it more pedalable...

My Bottlerocket frame (painted raw!) showed up at the Half Link shop today, Fox Talas RC2 and DHX Air tomorrow or Monday. I can't wait to get it built. Having to strip my DH bike for parts, but I'll be able to ride this bike WAY more, since DH racing is dead in Washington...anyhow, David at HalfLink is able to get more, and has no problem sourcing the Fox shox from them, bypassing the OEM issues at Transition. Give him a call (360-321-7980) he says he can ship, too. I'll post pics when it's built.
