Dear Fellow Mountain Bikers,
We are pleased to officially announce the formation of Triangle Off-Road Cyclists (TORC). This is the result of several months of planning between the local mountain bike clubs and two town hall meetings. We will become a non-profit organization affiliated to the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA). Our goal is to seek out and build new trails for off-road cycling in the greater Triangle Area of North Carolina.
We are still in the infancy stages of forming, but we have solid vision and leadership among us and are prepared to take the steps required to get officially formed and sanctioned. We still need to write by-laws, establish committee's, form solid goals and take steps for a sustained club with the political clout to effect change in the mountain bike community.
TORC will be a member based club with opportunity for everyone to chip in and help get more trails to ride on. These are the first steps towards legitimacy and establishing a membership base.
What is next for TORC?
We are writing by-laws that will govern our club.
Logo contest
Accept corporate sponsorship
Group rides, work days
Updated web pages to help get the word out.
More meetings and opportunities for you to volunteer
Once we are established, organized and recognized we will draw up plans to seek permission for building and maintaining trails around the Triangle. Places like Jordan Lake, Pittsboro, Forest Ridge Park, Marks Creek and a plethora of land access initiatives that the mountain bike community must be represented in.
Now is the time.
Respectfully,
TORC
