Finally arrived after being lost in delivery for four weeks: Large Nomad XE - swapped out all the Rock Shox bits for a 36 RC2, Float X2 and Bike Yoke respectively and replaced the Santa Cruz carbon bar with a high rise Race Face Atlas. Will test it in Lac Blanc next week.

Nice, your build not only matches your bike, but those grips really set off the endureau bleu of the Orbea too! :thumb:

Speaking of Orbeas, I'm still on my now unridabru Rallon R4 27.5. Updated the Reverb to a 150mm stealth one, and the rear tire to a Vittoria Goma with reinforced casing. Boy that thing took a whole lot of elbow grease to convince it to get into the rim. It's been raining for 4 weeks straight down here, so not the best scenario for it to taste blood. Will do a short trip to Tandil in two weeks to calm the Spirit of Enduro™.

That's the Pereyra Provincial Reserve, it's almost like my backyard. The last month and a half have been terribly rainy, and as a result today we found a lot of fallen trees. Mud aside, it was nice to get some dirt under the tires. I have only been riding my commuter for almost a month and a half.

Dafuq you buy a BMC for? Your biggest gripe about your EVIL(!) is the seat tube angle. Is the flexy ass rear end on the BMC a way to mitigate its own fucked up seat tube angle? I don't think too good sometimes so how did that make sense at some point?

Hahaha, I was trying to work out why the geo seemed to be that of a five year old bike and then realised it was a 29er.

have you spent much time on a trailfox? I haven't, I just got this bike, but so far:
The seat angle is significantly less retarded than the following. I am not running my post backwards and I am not running my saddle jammed all the way forward in the rails. It's crazy. It's almost like it wasn't designed by 5 year olds.

Rear end flex is WAY DOWN compared to the following. I can feel where the rear wheel is in between rocks n shit. It's pretty neat. I still have FlexWheelz© and my tires are decidedly inferior, but the difference is significant. Front triangle seems on par, maybe the evil was a bit stiffer between bars and feet?

Suspension is quite a bit better. I always felt like the following blasted through the first third of travel then ramped up hard. This bike is a more consistent performer and my fork is finally playing catchup to the rear, not the other way around. I still have plenty of tuning to do.

The build quality is a few notches higher. The evil always dropped chains in the three lowest gears when backpedaling, the bmc does not. The axle also engages all of the threads in the nut, which is a totally crazy way of designing things.

As far as the geometry goes, it's pretty similar to the new RFX, so I guess we're all living in the past? If you have specific experiences, I'm all ears as to what to watch out for. Otherwise this is quite an improvement without too many dramatic changes.

I have this frame on loan for a little bit. XL evolink 150. I picked up a 170 one up dropper and a dvo beryl to build it up for now.
I have a Machine on order that I just switched from large to XL. Hopefully next month, you know "2 weeks"

Nice build and very nice photo! I'm really intrigued by the Poles. You already had one before ordering the machine, right? How would you describe it? How tall are you and why did you go with the XL?

I got a L evolink 140 last fall. total game changer for me, I was about to give up and buy a moto until I got it. I decided to try something radically different before giving up, I'm glad I did. I've been curious about trying an XL for a little bit now that I have had time to acclimate to the big geometry. This frame is a tester that belongs to pole and they let me have it for a while while I wait for the machine. So after 2 rides I decided to go XL on my machine order. I'll be getting a reach adjust headset for my 140 asap to try to keep geometry as consistent between the 2 bikes as possible. I'm just shy of 6'3"

I pressed the bottom bracket sideways on one to check out the frame flex. That's the extent of my experience but it was enough to tell me there needed to be no more in depth experience. ;)

I just know you're a bigger guy so that seemed odd to me.

Glad you're digging it though. My RFX has nowhere near stock geo fwiw.

Thanks so much for the answer. As I said before, I'm really curious about those bikes. I'm 6' barefoot, so I guess I should be contemplating a size L. I came to really appreciate dual link bikes, and Poles seem to tick a lot of boxes for me, given my Rallón has a 467mm reach for a size L and I found myself wanting a longer one.

you are right in the middle of the L sizing. The odd thing about these bikes is that you will not feel stretched out when seated.

that's fair. I don't think it'll set any records but it does feel like an improvement over the following.

but yes I am fat and ride a 29er, so there's that.
