Just got back from the gym and it was one of the best nights I have had in a long time. Started out on the treadmill for 5 mins to get the muscles nice a warm. Once warmed up I did some weights: started with lat pulldowns, moved to leg curls, dead lift, and finally dumbell bench press. I try to keep the weight lifting portion to my workout nice and broad. I dont like working on specific muscle groups like just the chest, then triceps. I prefer to work the lager muscle groups.

Once done with the weight lifting part of my workout I went and did 25 mins on the stationary bike at lvl 14. All in all this is the best workout I have done in a long time. It was nice and well balanced and worked all the large muscle groups. By the way my weight now is.....

Starting weight : Jan 4th 246
Current weight : Jan 20th 238

Ive lost 14 lbs in 3 weeks.

Ive been eating pretty good and getting in a lot of cardio and LOTS of sleep. I actually sleep a lot better at night now. I would like to get on my Bow Flex more. I have been doing a lot of pushups though. When I started I could only get about 20-30 before a break. Now I can do about 60 before I have to rest.

I now weigh about what I weighed when I graduated from HS. Im 33 now, so not too bad. Ive been hitting the bike 4-5 times a week for 40-50 minutes.

If I could lose another 10 lbs I would be happy but it seems like I have hit a plateau. Im going to keep at it and hopefully Ill start losing again.

Keep it up guys. This thread has actually helped me. I like to post my progress and hear all of yours.

Well this sucks, I strained my left and right bicep, strained my next and hamstring. I guess I am going to have to take it easy at the gym this week. Phuck I hate my job. By the way everyone. Keep up the good work.

i should have weighed myself at the beginning of the year, but i've been pretty diligent about the ~3 workouts per week and cutting back on the food and beer intake. i've also decided to get my rowing machine into the mix (the wife used to row crew, so we've got an older concept II rower); it's a good workout.

Hmm, I suppose I shoulda weighed in at the beginning of the year, but I think I was at about 139. My goal is to make it up to at least 150.

I know I gots the opposite goal of you guys, but gaining muscle mass is a pain in the arse.

Gaining muscle is not fun... er well it is. :D I love doing dead lifts, squats, bench press, nothing better than those for total body muscle gains. I just want to get back to a 400# + dead lift (rep) 500 max), I am currently at 250 max. Which is not bad since I have not really done dead lifts in almost 2 years.

I just hit <130 this am. Mainly, I'm just eating small portions, stopping before I am full, and staying away from crap. I'm trying for my 5-a-day fruits and veggies, but some days that is easier said than done.

My goal is about 126. :)

Geargrrl how tall are you?

That's just intimidating........just kidding.

Ok I am in too.
Last year I lost 30 lb from Sep till Nov by riding my bike, going to gym, and eating healthy. I have been maintaining that weight since then ( good considering the Holiday's and all) but I want to lose 20 or 30 more. ........my resolution for this year.

I am 5'8" and weigh 155. I would like to get down to 135 but 125 would be better. I was underweight (115) in highschool and I can't imagine ever being that skinny again..........LOL! At 41 losing weight just keeps getting harder and harder!

I'm five three. At my height a few pounds can really add up. At my age (45) I'd have to be a total gym rat to get to total hard body status. BTDT - in my "youth" I trained for body building and was maybe 116, very lo body fat, spent 3 hours a day 6 days a week for that. Now, I've got too many other things going on. I just want to look decent in jeans, bike shorts or a swim suit, and be strong enough to do well and enjoy my sports ( ski and bike).

I'm 6'3" and 200lbs. I'm aiming for 175 by June. It'll be interesting to judge my results against those of other guys (and girls) on the board.

So right now I am about 6'3 and 190*ish*

I don't really care how much weigh I lose, I just want more muscle/less fat. I need to workout more. I have given up soda and fried food and hamburgers (Hard considering I am the cook at a 50's diner) I have been eating way less meat and more fruit. I feel alot better, I have way more energy, which is most important to me

I'm short but not what I'd consider petite. I've up and down some on the weight with a variety of prescriptions that have affected weight over the years, but see I shouldn't even be posting on this thread as I've only got like 5 more, and never more than 10 over my goal. If I get below 125 my husband tells me that I'm getting bony in the wrong spots and we can't have an unhappy hubby now, can we?

Here is some inspiration. On my Monday night gal's ride, we have a gal who has lost 160# just through cycling and weight watchers. How's that for hard work!!!

I just started my workout routine. I was 191.5 after a weekend of eating pizza and drinking pretty much just beer.

I hope to be down around 170 by May.

On January 1st I weighed 251 lbs. Today is February 19th and I am down to 239 lbs. I thought I would be further along but I had a few things slow me down. First I broke a bone in my foot and that kept me from doing much of anything for about two weeks and then I thought I had caught the flu about 3 weeks ago. It just kept getting worse and worse. After seeing three different doctors the last one was very thorough and ran a variety of test. Turns out that I have whooping caugh. This is going to stay with me for another 2-7 weeks. So, I think that is one of the reasons for the weight loss. I am eating absolutely no junk food. Only fresh healthy food. My exercise is stopped pretty much for now. I am hoping to be able to start again soon. Just depends on these caughing attacks that I get.

Have any of you ever had Whooping Caugh as adults? Any suggestions for me?

Thats funny. Everyone is trying to lose weight and I am trying to gain it. 162 as of now, lets see what I can get up to. Hopefully 175, that sounds like a solid number.

I have probably gained 12 or so pounds this year. All of it being muscle of course, all the weight lifting is paying off and I am starting to see some results.

Lots of protein and lifting. When I graduated from high school about 2 years ago I weight somewhere around 137. Since then I am 25 pounds heavier and its primarily all from lifting as I have even less body fat now than I did then.

why thank you.

Well, I haven't weighed myself in months. some times i find it better for the psyche to stay away from the demon numbers on the scale. I haven't needed to weigh myself though because I am fitting into clothes that I haven't worn since last year. Had to bust the ole running skirt out (yes its that warm already) and i've gotta admit it looks much nicer than it did at the end of last summer.

If i had to guess, i would guess that I am down 10 pounds since new year. I've got quite the collection of weight gauging outfits in my closet. When I fit into my white cargos again, i'll be where i want to be.

Running is going good, but I just can't get motivated about anything else. I want to start lifting and doing some lower body strength training again but I get so bored doing it alone at home. and i hate gyms. yak. Oh well. maybe the lifting bug will bite when it starts heating up and I'm not feeling up for long runs anymore.

i seem to have stalled a bit, probably because i'm eating more than i had been...now that my b-day celebrations are over, i can get back to business. i'm still good on my 3-4 exercise instance per week rate, which i think is the important thing.

Yeah getting frequent workouts is really important to me. I work regular business hours and usually do long rides on the weekends. I'm 6' 1" or so and about 200 lbs. My weight doesn't change that much but my fat:muscle ratio does, and it totally depends on me getting those extra workouts and short rides during the week. Even if I can only get a short time doing core work in the gym at lunch or an hour-long blast on my bike after work, it pays off. I feel better and stronger all around and it keeps my metabolism burning fairly high, which is key since I'm not naturally a fat burner and I like to eat and drink. Like a lot of things, for me it's all about balance.
