Alright used to ride dirt track style BMx back when I was younger. loved to jump and am just looking at something I can ride back and forth to work do some flatland and maybe take to the hills a little. a tall order and a newbie... it spells trouble. my bike now is a academy sporting goods huffy. nothin that needs to be used for much except sold to some poor kid down the rode or givin to the homeless!

Are you lookin' to ride XC , XC race, or DH?

If you're looking for a cheap XC ride check out Gary Fisher's line. They sell quality bikes that I've ridden my entire life - they've never failed. Don't know about DH. How much are you wanting to spend?

I'm in love with my giant STP as a play bike. Versatile, light enough, perfect geometry, tough parts, and a good price.

I got my STP 1 new for like $650 on closeout, but I'd say buy one used and if you don't end up sticking with it, you won't lose much money flipping it.
