how come we don't hear more from you people living in other places about what's going on there? We're always talking about the US, which is cool, but post stories, debates, whatever about the UK, Canada, Sweden, Japan... I know some of you are living there, post up.

do you even KNOW where CANADA is???

:D

ya don't wanna hear the latest news cuz its all about the people stealing money from the GUVMENT. seriously... apparently the total right now stands at CDN$260M bones. not kewl....

personally - and i know u ain't reading - i usually don't have a point... so no one pays attention anyway.

thanks for asking.

  :monkey:  :D ;) :( :p   :) :monkey: :dead:

i will be posting some pics in da lounge next week i think of my trip up north. i'm going to check out FOX-MAIN at Hall Beach... part of the North Warning System (aka the new DEW Line). i hope to see a polar bear.

in other CANUCK news, a hockey player punched a AMERICAN player in (or on???) the head and this dude's neck got broke.

we've got a multi-millionaire blonde chiquita runnin for the conservative leadership... her good looks just might help her win. we need a change since the liberals have been in power too many years and are now haveing too many scandals.

our soldiers are posted around the world on peacekeeping missions using planes, vehicles, ships, and weapons that are older than the soldiers are. however, we're still blacklisted by the POTUS cuz we didn't support operation IRAQI OIL.... despite that we allowed our exchange officers to help out.

its cold here now. and stupid me, i'm going to a beach this week, where the average temp at this time of year is around.... -40 (both celsius and farenheit). and speaking of cold, i had the pleasure of seeing a USAF officer get his honorary CANADIAN citizenship. turns out this lt-col, born in SoCal and his posting prior to CANADA was HAWAII, goes running everyday.... even on the coldest day of the year. he has conditioned himself to our BEER - which works as blood anti-freeze in the winter.

in other passed news... there were lots of canadians at the oscars or some other HOLLYWOOD award show... doesn't it seem these shows are just sympathy votes?

in the east (maritimes)... they get dumped on by snow. QUEBEC is always weird with their special tongue and food that involves french fries, gravy, and cheese curds. TORONTO - not the capital of CANADA btw - is still suffering from the fallout of SARS. the prairies are still reeling about beef. and snow too. no one really cares about BC... although i was born there.

our beef and softwood lumber don't make it across the border to the US... however our pot still does. we're roughly 31M people... and spend too much money clearing snow from our roads and not enough fixing said infrastructure. we also don't spend enough on health care, the poor, our children... yet our prime minister can afford to have his company registered somewhere else other than CANADA.

we drink strong beer... although not as strong as across the pond. we like everybody, and hope they like us back. we wanna be a stronger voice in the world, and hopefully add to the development and stabilisation of the world.

hope that apeases your desire to know what goes on in the great white north. did you ever make it to CANADA on yo trip, LO?

well, it was an interesting post, but I mean, I hope your foreign ;) posters will start new threads about things important to you in your neighborhood... like Jr_B's thread about her University and the US gov't.

Nope, didn't have time and besides, it's too cold to come up there during the winter, well, except for Whistler. I'm hoping to make a trip to BC during the summer.

I hope you see a polar bear! That'd be awesome! Just make sure you're not the slowest member of your group.

If the people stealing from your gov't. is relevant, go into detail. It might not be, I think people steal from the US govt all the time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Spanish [ex-] government backed the US-led invasion of Iraq last year despite polls showing 90% opposition to it from the Spanish public.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Spain is a country I know pretty well I cannot say I'm surprised by the election result. The Spanish people are not particularly interested in wars, they would rather deal with Spanish issues than international ones. That the outgoing Spanish govt got involved in the whole Iraq thing said far more about Aznar's ambitions than Spanish culture.

Ever wonder why Franco stayed well away from WWII?
