3 Sram derailleurs (2 x9s, 1 x7) and one Sram shifter (x9) after first trying them and having none (as in, 0) of them warrantied, Sram can go to hell. My cheapo Tiagra derailleur has been beaten to hell and has only scratches to show for it; my XT ran for over two years without a hitch (eventually it got a bit of slop in it). The Sram stuff certainly shifts more crisply than the Shimano stuff (and is a bit easier to set up, and is less affected by mud/cable drag), and I like the quietness, but wtf - if you're gonna make pissweak products, claim they're "xtreme" or whatever, then not back them up at all (well the distributors here anyway), kiss my arse. I don't like the way Shimano does stuff (making you have to use *their* proprietary stuff because it's incompatible with open standards) but what the hell, their shifters don't break (how does a shifter crap itself anyway? It didn't even get hit on anything), and the derailleurs seem a flying f-load stronger (only ever killed one, and that was by mulching it in my spokes, as you do). X.0 may be heaps better than the X9s and X7s, but with an absolutely retarded pricetag (something like $400au over here?), like I'm gonna buy one of those when I don't know exactly how it's going to last. I talk to the rep, they say "oh all derailleurs can be broken/will get broken/won't take being hit by a rock/it's your fault NO WARRANTY/no they're very strong, I haven't broken mine yet and I even put it on my off-road cross-country bike and it didn't spontaneously combust/etc". ATM I don't really like Shimano *or* Sram, but given one that lasts and one that doesn't, well I know which one I'm gonna buy.
