I'm thinking about selling mine. I suffered a concussion recently and am thinking of doing more XC riding this winter and MAYBE converting my UFO into more of a all-around bike. I'd sell it complete or frame only. It's in perfect working order, I even upgraded the rohloff shifting this season with the external shifting box.

What do you think would be a fair asking price? Complete or frame only.

um... try looking at other comperably spec'd bikes in mtbr/ebay. Then list it on buy/sell and take it off the dh/ds forum. This is not the place to be advertising you bike.
For info, you'll probably be luky to get $3k given the current market for DH bikes.

Kill this thread.
Take it easy thread Nazi. I was simply asking a question pertaining to a DH bike. The last time I checked, this was in fact the topic of this thread. I appreciate your concern over which threads go where...but all I was doing was asking a question. Not initiating sale or advertising. Simply asking what people thought a good asking price would be. So relax.

I'll post where I see most appropriate. You can do the same.

be careful of what you post here. some people like to get all uppity. reminds me of MTBR SS forums. i mean, moto trials, and huffy are so pertinent to DH/FR. given my 2000 posts, i don't view this as SPAM.

i also don't have a clue as to what your bike is worth, because even Rohloffs are a dream to me, letalone a Nicolai.

a thread exactly like this was moved to the buy & sell 2 days ago... just a fyi of what to expect.

but as stoney said, I think you'd be hard pressed to get more than 3K for it... if that... unfortunately the design is a bit dated & isn't as 'en vouge' as some of the newer designs atm.

defn a nice ride though... how'd you like it?

why not just keep it & pick up an inexpensive xc hardtail (or something?)

Thanks guys. I'm not sure what's been going on lately on these mt. bike sites. Everytime time I post on Hcor (which is most of the time) someone is arguing and talking about kicking someone elses teeth in. Then I post here and have people saying "Kill this thread" when it's obviously on target.

Ugh. Instigator, the UFO is alive and well. I was actually riding that bike when I crashed. I was practicing for the Reading race, hitting the BIG monster jump when I over shot the landing. That was a good 45 feet from take-off...and about 20 feet up. Good times on a 5" travel single crown. ;)

Anyway, I was thinking of asking about $2300.00 complete for the bike. I want to be fair and not get ripped. I'm not even sure I want to sell it honestly. Just trying to guage what a fair price would be.

Yo Dump! Nice to hear from you.

I loved the bike. It's a bit heavy, but all in all it's been totally maintence free. The Rohloff shifting is awesome. I have a new Turner DHR on the way in exchange for some design I work I did. So I really don't see the reason to keep two DH bikes...plus I'm all about trying as many different rigs as I can for as long as my body will allow it.

There's nothing wrong with asking what you think the bike is worth, but in doing so you imply that it is or will be for sale, which makes the question somewhat of an advertisement. I'm not totally objected since most of the posts are slightly off topic but our commonlaw rules dictate that sale ads should be in the appropriate forum. You can check ebay and mtbr classifieds to get just as good an estimate as we could give. Just add a link to the sale thread in your signature like Stoney does, apparently there's nothing wrong with posting an ad in every thread you respond to...

Point taken. However how many ads do you think I'll find for a Nicolai Nucleon ST on mtbr or ebay? Answer: None.

It's cool...I apologize for the post. My intention wasn't to make this an "ad." as much as I was trying to get some personal thoughts / info. It's not like I'm looking to sell a SC Bullit. If so, I'd know what to expect.

When I need good information I post here as I feel people here are a bit more centered and knowledgeable. I didn't mean to rock the boat.

you have to admit though that there are not many nicolai's for sale anywhere. it's not like doing market research on how much a big hit or boxxer should sell for.

In all honestly...this was DW's bike. I bought it from him end of last season. The final purchase price, $2800.00 I put a new boxxer on it, but other than that, it's the same bike...with a few small upgrades. Like I said, I'm not trying to make any money with this. And as I said before, I'm NOT sure I even want to sell it. Just wondering what thoughts were on an asking price.

Given that we don't really have a place for valuations, better here than the buy or sell. I don't want posts like this in the B&S. Maybe we need an appraisals forum.

You would think a Nucleon ST would be kinda like BMW bikes where they don't lose a lot of value. With the Nucleon ST you have perfect craftsmanship, Rohloff hub, 165x12 hub. You should be asking for a bit more...especially with a shock like that.

How many informed people would really browse an appraisals forum? Maybe more than I think...but I don't think this is obnoxious or subterfuge for a sale.

$2300 is selling yourself a bit short...I'd ask $3k, and bargain down to $2700 or so, if you want to move it. You could probably get $3-$3.5k if you didn't care how long it took to sell...

You're selling your Nucleon? Wow you really hit your head hard off the "Airlines Jump". I think you should just sell the parts off it and save the frame. I was also thinking about getting a lighter frame, maybe a Helius ST w/ Rohloff but I'm still keeping the Nucleon as a form of art. I think I'm going to hang it up in my den. You're also selling it very cheap, but this time of year is horrible for used bike sales. Last year at this time I was selling a complete Bullit and a Stab Primo frame and I didn't get my price until February. I hope you have better luck. At least you're keeping the UFO, I'm loving mine even more since I switched out the 6" Breakout for a 90mm-130mm Flick. I can't believe what a difference, no more back pains from long trail or street rides. Well I hope you feel better, take it easy and the next time you decide to do a jump like that, use you DH bike even if you cleared it 10 times prior. Later.

If any of you :dancing:'S want to see the jump Springfish did on his UFO here is the MONSTER . Just scroll down the page and save the teaser.

I sold the bike to springfish for $2800, I think that $2300 is very reasonable for a 2 year old complete full suspension DH bike. I mean, there are a lot of awesome complete bikes available (new) out there in that range.

Thats just my opininon tho
