the 30D (and 20D, and 10D) are mag bodies too...
Nice, but I am amazed how much abuse the plastic bodies can take. My D70s was so cheap because the first owner smashed it into a brick fireplace. Small, almost imperceptible hairline crack on the bottom corner. Still works perfectly.
But plastic or mag, if you knock the damn thing hard enough the guts are toast anyway.
