Something to do with visiting the :monkey: on his phone if I recall correctly.
Yep. When I post from my Android, the . and space bar are close and sensitive. One of the few things I liked better about my iPhone. And I have been posting from my phone, as I am having firewall issues with my laptop at home.

Just keep them there 30 minutes. If they are drunk, they will have to pee eventually and you can collect a sample from the bush.

Why is it a bad idea? They only stick you if you refuse to blow. So don't refuse to blow. Problem solved.
this.

i'd rather cutout tickets/lawyers/judges/insurance.....if your caught driving drunk you get the sh!t kicked out of you for 30 minutes.

the end.

They should use the same approach with a road block only with a team from LAPD to provide the appropriate beating. Using cops would ensure that the proper amount of force is used.

The solution to drunk driving is firmer punishments and much lower tolerance for repeat offenders. It is not erosion of constitutional rights or granting police the power to call "driving a car" reasonable suspicion of a crime.

You hate cops. You've repeated often that you think they're power-tripping thug bullies with inferiority complexes. Why are you so excited to all of a sudden give them even more power?

I'm not too panic'ed about the .081 drinker who had one too many. I'm worried about guys like Edward Schaefer:

* 1990: Marin County - DUI. 6 months in jail, 3 years probation, license suspended 4 years.
* 1990: Marin County - DUI. 44 days in jail, 3 years probation.
* 1991: Marin County - DUI. 26 days in jail.
* 1995: Marin County - DUI. 4 months in jail, 2 years probation, license suspended 3 years, $2,000 fine, ignition device 1 year.
* 1999: Sonoma County - Alcohol-related Reckless Driving. 30 days in jail. 2 years probation.
* 2004: Nevada - DUI.

Frankly, I've always thought that DUI checkpoints were for show-n-tell.

I think 2 years for a second offense then 10 years for the third.

The problem is the idea that driving is a necessity.

Would you rather take the bus or spend time at Pelican Bay?

On an upside, that guy was put into the general population and was dead within 6 weeks.

Well you are correct. And this whole thing is (in my mind) contingent on the judges being on site to provide a modicum of oversight.....and I also hope that there is a qualified nurse there too to actually perform the sticking.

Because you are quite right, if it were only cops, then yeah.....no good can come of that.

I think I've told this story before, but...

While on the bus to work, a gal up front was talking to a guy about having to take the bus after getting her third DUI. Turns out she got the 3rd one while on a restricted license from the 2nd one.

She was so inconvenienced by having to use the awesome Portland bus system just because she happened to stop after work for a few drinks with co-workers and got caught. It's not like she went out of her way to hit the bar, she was on the way home.

Why do cops have to be such dicks?

Don't make DUI illegal. Start charging DUIs with attempted murder if they get into an accident and someone gets hurt.

Will never happen, because EVERYONE knows someone they like who has an extra pop and drives.

not in most states.

"unconstitutional", however...
Oh, I'm sorry, did you miss the first part of that post, the bit you deleted when you quoted me? I'll post it again...

In Wisconsin, the first offense is a traffic ticket. We call it the "get out of jail free card" that everyone gets when they first get their license around here.

edit: Oh, and sobriety checkpoints are illegal.
