Hi everyone! New to the sport and the forum. I'm looking into getting a used downhill bike. I recently found an add for a 2010 Mongoose Boot'r for $1400. I have been reading up on this bike as well a others. The guy that is selling the bike is disabled (but can still walk) and has ridden the bike a few times down the street. In fact he told me he keeps the bike in his bedroom and it makes his wife angry. The only problem for me is that the bike is in Southern New Jersey, about a 4 and a half hour drive from me. The guy has the bike listed for $1600 but said if I take the drive he will take $1400. I saw this exact same bike for sale on Ebay listed for $2,800 and it sold for that at a buy now price.
The other problem is that my mom is trying to talk me out of it.
So my final question for you experienced guys is do you think this is a good idea and worth the time to get the bike?
