Bikes are held together with some weird shit. Looking to source a 8mm x 30.5mm shock bolt. Frame manufacturer is out of stock. McMaster seems to only want to sell these things in Freedom units:

Where else can I look for onna these?

¡Mira, una ardilla!
What frame is this from? Googling brings me straight to Transition, and they seem to be out of stock, as you say.

I don't know how much would shipping be, but in UK and other EU locations they are available:

EDIT: Fuck it, turns out I have a couple sitting here in my spare parts bin (from my long-defunct Iron Horse MKIII), I'm in Argentina, so I don't know if they would do for you, but if you aren't in a hurry, I'll gladly send them to you.

It's a 2014 Transition Bandit 27.5. Bought a set of offset bushings for it, pulled the shock, lo and behold, the front shock bolt is bent.

edit : hey, thanks -- yeah, bushings I ordered came from UK, it took a while, but they got here. I'll see if plush hill will ship.

Non standard hardware is for sure a kill list worthy offense. That should have been a shoulder bolt, or at least a properly shanked SHCS

That type of bolt is called a sex bolt, and anybody who uses a metric one on a product destined for US shores is an asshole. This is the closest I can findhttps://www.fastenright.com/general-fixings/socket-countersunk-sex-bolts/sb03

You may be able to find a threaded spacer and just use 2 screws instead. Like this https://www.mcmaster.com/#92871A329

What’s the diameter of the shank? Is that 8mm, or is the thread m8?

Hey, thanks for the response. I want to say there's not much of a shank so the thread is M8. You can see a full description of the part here:

Your idea of a threaded spacer and screws looks like a good option.

also, @slimshady thank you for the offer, but I think by the time it gets to me I'll be on a new bike!
