Are "normal bike helmets" any good for riding bmx?
By this I mean the sort of bike helmets that mountain bikers / riders wear.
They are much lighter and have more ventilation. Also given that they are designed to take high speed impacts on roads mountains would they be any good when riding a bmx?
For cruising around then they should be fine?
If they are any good they certainly offer a better shaped alternative to looking like a hippie-soldier! :))

Yes, they work great. I wear a fox flux so my head doesn't catch on fire during the summer. Just remember these are usually single-impact helmets intended to be replaced after a hit.

I think you must have any kind of helmet for you own safety when you are riding bmx, on the other hand it is up to you are you going to wear it or not..
