But I've ridden 60mm- stems on my trail bikes for about a decade now. All this longer reach stuff.......I think it just gave a feeling of stability to people who never really truly feel "stable" at speed. It's good to be able to get back and forward. Stretch that front center measure out too much and you lose a lot of that. Manualing becomes a lower back issue and digging the front wheel down with slacker head angles gets tough.
