When I post in the XC forum, I don't get notifications on replies? I get them for other sub-forums.

Hmm, generally the notification settings are controlled by your user preferences and there's nothing I can do. I'll double check to make sure there's nothing in the admin settings to restrict notifications for a specific forum.

There is a setting on sub forums to limit what types of posts users are allowed to subscribe to. It was set to only be able to watch new threads for the XC forum - I removed that limit now. You may not get notifications for existing posts but hopefully you'll get them going forward.

Had no idea that was there - I learned something today.

I find my notifications in PAWN occasionally skip certain updates for threads I’ve posted in. I haven’t seen a consistent pattern so I haven’t mentioned it, but since this thread popped up…

I’ll go check my preferences. I assumed that once I posted in a thread I was subscribed to updates automatically, because that’s generally how it seemed to work.

PAWN seems to be configured correctly. One thing I will say is that XenForo will only notify you of a new post for a thread once, and will not notify you again until you actually click on the thread to read it.

So if you see a notification for a missed post but decide not to click through to the thread to see what it is, XF will assume that you aren't interested in subsequent missed posts until you view the thread again.

Good to know. Do you know if the system skips updates when an ignored member posts in a thread? I was trying to figure out if that explained missing notifications.

It’s been interesting to see how the system works since another site I visit recently switched to XF and it caused huge headaches. I think it turned a bunch of members off. I thought it was odd when the admins would say “XF can’t do that” and it was some function I knew RM had.

Yes, I believe that's the case - ignored members don't count as new content in a thread.

It'd be interesting to find out if this causes a bug; an ignored member posts in the thread so you don't get notified, but because you don't click the thread, you don't receive further notifications. I haven't tested that - nobody is on my ignore list because I don't think it's responsible for me to be the admin but not see what people are posting.

We have a few functions enabled through plugins but not a ton of that - principally just the "reactions" under each post, a thumbnailing function for the Buy and Sell forum, and the UI.X theme we run. XF is pretty flexible and I spent a very, very long time on the VB -> XF transition trying to make it as seamless as possible (especially because I know how incredibly averse to change the RM community is :D). It's possible that the other forum might just have not dug through all of the settings yet. If there's something you have a question about, just hit me up via PM - happy to try and point the other forum admins in the right direction.
