brought back some goodies from the store tonight:
so far, the smuttynose is totally killing the shipyard and blue moon.

It's bottled here in Montreal too. Really REALLY horrid stuff from what I tasted.Blue Moon is Coors, you know........
and it's from Colorado...i knew there were good reasons why it sucked azz.Blue Moon is Coors, you know........
You're going to need to qualify your blanket dislike of Colorado beers. What beer have you had from CO?and it's from Colorado...i knew there were good reasons why it sucked azz.
Are you sure you're not a chick?dan-o, i am a sucker for the pumpkin beers....the boston/salem beer works has an excellent one.
Why, did he beat you up the hill too?Are you sure you're not a chick?
Did I tell you about the 40-something female mountain biker that passed me last time I was at White Ranch (time before you and I went)? She was cute. Why, did he beat you up the hill too?
The Ito
Nice, i love pumpkin pie and I love beer. So I should be good to go then?not nearly as fruity/sweet as #9, which i recall to be fairly cloying. that said, if you don't like nutmeg or those spices, steer clear of pretty much any of these beers.
the smuttynose is definitely worth a try. their shoals IPA is neck and neck w/ dogfish 60 min, and that's heady company.
full steam ahead. i think you'll like it.Nice, i love pumpkin pie and I love beer. So I should be good to go then?
I agree 100% with you.I love this time of year. I don't care for the pumpkin beers myself, but I love me some Octoberfest.

Shipyard summer Ale is good IMO.I've always been impressed with Smuttynose offerings.
Shipyard offerings - not so much.
Wachusset has a blueberry ale and it was pretty good.i have had the blueberry beer (once); watermelon sounds a bit off for my tastes.
had some Cambridge Brewing pumpkin ale last night @ Bukowski's...damn good.
MMcG, i agree that smuttynose is consistently good product. i do like Old Thumper, which i think is made by shipyard.
Autumn is the best of the beer seasons. Better than the lighter brews offered in the Spring and Summer, and better than the heavier, spicy beers offered in the Winter and holiday seasons. I think Octoberfest should be a year round celebration. Beer is good.
So what's the problem? The more beer selection, the better.Octoberfest beer is brewed from Late July till January anymore.
It seems like they are extending the brewing season like they extend the Christmas Holiday season every year.
Did I say it was a problem? So what's the problem? The more beer selection, the better.
BTW, I'm not too sure the beers are actually brewed that long, but rather stores just keep it on the shelves until it sells. I saw Spaten Oktoberfest in my local beer mart last winter that had expired. Always check the dates when buying beer that is not in season.
