I would try to hook up for a ride, but we are doing backwards loops. I am in Whistler the 4th-10th, and NS on the 11th and 12th. There are lots of cool people to ride with on the shore, but if you don't hook up with anyone, you can always hire a guide. Johny Smoke does a nice tours. Reasonable rates... Very laid-back.

I would go for Whistler first. It is a ton of fun, and has lifts. All the transitions are perfect, a great place to brush off some skills you may not be using on your home trails.

North Shore riding beats the sh*t out of me and my bike. I love it, but riding on Fromme involves climbing, tons of technical riding, and many bruises :thumb: Your skill and ability to ride within your limits may vary, but I figure I might as well try stuff while I'm on vacation... For me there are more opertunities for injury on the shore, so I like hitting it at the end of the trip. Either way you will have a blast. If you need specific recommendations, tell me what you are looking for and I may be able to help.

Nah ride N* first! Whistler will be like a treat. When i got back from Whistler earlier this summer it took me a few days to get back into the rythm of riding the rocks and dust of N* again. Whistler will spoil you!!

Okay,
First off, let's double check our abbreviations  I was thinking you meants Whistler and the North Shore (NS) meaning North Vancouver. North Van is the area that kicks my ass. NorthStar (N*) is also rough, but not that brutal, the rocks may take a few bites out of you and your bikes, but no big deal. If you are hitting N*, I agree, Whistler will be a well deserved treat after. If you are hitting the NS, do it at the end of you trip, so you can really push yourself. If you don't hire a guide you can stop and grab a map at On Top Bike Shop, they will point you to the trailhead. If you are riding Single Black Diamond trails, or above, I think you will find it pretty tough. I know some people who are right at home on the Shore, but most are humbled by the skills required, and non-stop back to back technical moves of the Shore. On a Northern California trail I may get 2-5 good drops on the whole loop. On Fromme you find that many drops in the first hundred yards of some trails  Have fun.

Thanks for all the info. This is actually my second trip to NS and Whistler. We only road Seymour and Fromme last time. I want to check out Cypress this time.
