I'm trying to take this sprocket off an old 3 piece unsealed crank spindle. I think I removed all the spacers and stuff, but it still wont slide out. Has this ever happenned to anyone? I need to take the sprocket off to put on another bike.

Please advise,

I'm at work, so dont have it with me. Basically, imagine a 3 piece crank spindle. Its got threads because it is for an unsealed bottom bracket. I think the sprocket slides in from one end, then gets fastened into place by screwing in the spacer. I've removed that spacer, and now the sproket spins freely, but it won't slide out. It's as if there was still a spacer screwed in front of it...but there's nothing there. It shouldnt spin out of those threads, should it. (Not that I didnt try that...I spun like 4000 times)

I'll post a pic when I get home if that still doesnt help.

that's why we drink it here
Dangle the spindle through an open bench vice, or a hole in a sturdy table, and tap it out with a mallet. Use a block of wood as a buffer if you only have a hammer. If it doesn't come out, tap it the other way.
