where the trails are
I live in an apartment that is about 930 s.f.
Its nice enough for now, and my living room/office area is really nice and big at about 14' x 19'.

I have a neighbor across the courtyard that is in the same size unit as this one. I just got home from work to see two delivery guys struggling to move a 73" rear proj. HDTV up into his place on the second floor.

I asked him; "didn't they have any big tvs for sale?"
To which he replied; "dude, this is the biggest one they had."

Different priorities for others I guess, but a $5,000 behemoth televison would not be found of my current list of needs. Not even my list of wants.

When he is choking it to porn, he wants to see detail.

Or pretend he is spelunking.

well you figure they introduced their 110" plasma last year for over $100k, then reduced it to around $75-80k.
they wont announce a price on this until probably during the show, but it will be some where in the neighbor hood of over $150k at first.
and they will probably have people standing next to them w/ multiple screens surrounding them.

ill post pics after i go

Well, IMO, bikes are different in the hopes that they'll last longer. With the problems I've seen out of some TVs, I'd be willing to bet a well taken care of bike/frame would easily outlive any boob tube.

I have a 46" in a 10' deep room, sitting about 8' from it. Using the THX theatre setup guide, that's still too far. In a 14' room, a 75" is actually probably about right if he is setting it up by THX guidelines.

The TV is supposed to encompass something like 85% of your field of view or something.

I'd like to see how big my wang looks on both the 73" and 150" screens.

I bet I'd be huge in japan.

Wow, the US Govt. bailing out families so that they can watch TV. Will wonders never cease. Maybe that $$$ should be put towards, oh I dunno, education.
An educated populace is a dangerous populace.
Besides, if we could read on this side of the border how could we elect the next neo-con Bush cock loving, friend of Jeebus to the white house.

Oh wait, we're going to do that anyway since the Democraps are getting ready to give away the entire show.

...again.
You'd think a war, plus Katrina, the housing market being in the port-a-crapper, Canada's dollar being worth more then ours, and the fact that we've been forced to suck big oil's dick for the last 8 years would sway even the most moderate of the middle.

Its going to be Rudy in 08, and I'm going to NZ.

well, i do have a 54" in the tv room and a 42" in my bedroom... 600w rms sound in the tv room, 400w on the bedroom.... mostly used for music though.
i guess its just like bikes... i dont spend money on bikes anymore (takes cover)... but its pretty much the same thing, different fetish.

a few months ago i was at a local store here in Lima, and my jaw dropped.... they had a 70" plasma tv, gold framed. price was around US$70+k (yeah, 70+ thousand american greenbacks). jeeeeezus.
now, that is an excess.

It was just an observation. and as I said before "different priorities" ... I just don't get it. I suppose if TV were a large part of my day I might think differently. Whatever makes him happy, right? I had a 47" in my old place, but that stayed with the ex.

I thought of the porn aspect, that could get downright frightening.

why is it any skin off your nose? you didnt pay for it nor do you have to watch it...

harden the fuk up!!!
No skin off my nose, just seemed an unusual purchase for somebody renting an apartment. I guess I didn't make that point obvious in my first post. Whoever made the comparison to what we spend on bikes was on point. I have a smaller old tv, but $$$ in bikes.

"harden the fuk up!!!" ... that's rich, coming from you.

I have a 36in true flat screen tv, 400w 5.1 Dolby surroung soubnd system. I dont need more than that. I can enjoy My movies just fine, Its already loud enough to make my ears ring, why go bigger.

And yes, I would rather spend the money on bikes, either the DH or the roadie, I still wont spend that much on my bikes either, at least not at once.

i think the sound is more important than screen size up for the most part. specially on the kinda of movies i like (wwii/war movies).

i´ve watched letters from iwo jima and saving private ryan on a 17in laptop screen, hooked to my car stereo (higher quality amps, speakers and a much larger subwoofer right behind us, along a smaller area and better acoustics i guess) and even in my ex gf opinion (who has no audio nerdiness at all) it was as good if not better than watching a movie in the tv room, even though one screen is about 13 times bigger.....
