I went to replace the battery in my Cannondale Lefty ELO and when I popped the cover off I found hydraulic oil all over the battery and pooled up in the bottom of the compartment. What happened or is this normal???

LOL - you said "battery and "fork" in the same sentence.

:D

I don't think there should be oil in there, get the seals checked.

"Electronically lock-out your Lefty fork with Cannondale’s handlebar-mounted, push-button ELO system."

Actually, it's there to be forgotten, eventually corrode, and destroy the fork from the inside out. Maintaining that critical function is the reason it is imperative to fix the oil leak. ;)

That is sooooo over-engineered and totally gay... a remote lockout for something within easy reach...???

Still you have to hand it to them for their ingenious anti-corrosion system - I never remember to oil my batteries. :thumb:

Why do I hate everything about Cannodale?

While I must disagree with you Serial on the fact that Cannondale's forks (and everything else for that matter) are attracted to other bike parts of the same gender, I do hafta agree on the fact that they're all crap!!!! :D

I'm sure AKASL would appreciate it if someone would actually answer his question, not just bash Cannondale equipment. Sorry though AKASL, I don't have the answer.

Ya, i'd agree with qr20, it's time for new seals! Either that or a warrantee fork.

Don't listen to these none C-dael riders. Lefty are awsome.
I would just take it to the shop you bought it from i'm sure C-dale will try to make it right. It's not like they can blame you for it.

warranty that literally bad boy, ahahaha i hate those things, i couldnt ride somethin that looks like it got really scared when shaving with a strait razor and decappitated half of its-self, it doesnt look sturdy enough to carry a fat guy like me, i need fat guy proof things, like solid wood chairs, so what if they weigh too much to carry in the bed of a standard 1 ton truck, they live up to my behemoth behind. and so what if i hate cannondale, just another among the millions. :D

I hate to say it... Most mechs won't work on cannondale for very good reasons.... they usually require (expensive) special tools, they're not service friendly (try replacing the bearings in a headshock) and they're too damned expensive if you mess it up while trying to service the damned thing. (they also don't support non-cannondale dealers nearly as well as they support cannondale dealers... bordering on illegal, actually)

IMHO Cannondales are for people who buy those new hummer H2 thinggies.... you have too much money, and they're too pretty to take em off road.

you're probably stuck with the dealer on that one.

(cannondale, in its favor, picked up manitou as their shock supplier, taking their crappy proprietary designs and putting some real engineering into em.)
