Oil Prices Hit $40 for First Time Since 1990

LONDON (Reuters) - Oil prices hit $40 a barrel on Friday on concerns over security in the Middle East and tight U.S. gasoline supplies, underlining concerns that world economic growth may be reined in by rising energy costs.

U.S. light crude touched $40 for the first time since October 1990, shortly after Iraq (news - web sites)'s invasion of Kuwait in the crisis that led to the Gulf War (news - web sites). It later eased to $39.82, 43 cents higher on the day. London Brent peaked at $37.18 and by 1715 GMT was up 47 cents at $37.00 a barrel.

Since drilling through the center of the earth is impossible we need to build a gimongous slant drilling rig like Mr Burns did to the Springfield Elementary school. Then drain all the oil out of the middle east so we don't have to care what goes on over there anymore. We would also then be so rich the US could build a giant glass dome over the country and keep everyone else out as we soak in our life giving petrol fumes.
