1) What kind of fork.
2) What weight does the mfg specify.

By using 10W30, the weight is too high. The oil flows way too slow for a fork. Use either motorcycle fork oil, or bicycle fork oil. These oils are specifically designed for use in forks.

I run 15 weight oil in my Marzocchi forks.

Many (most?) forks come stock with 5W oil... and it's not just regular motor oil. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is (if there even is any) but you can buy oil that's specifically designated as fork oil. Considering the small investment, I think it's probably worth it to just pony up for decent fork oil from your local motorsports place.

I use Bel-Ray 5W. You can put 7W or 10W in there if you want the fork to be a little slower... Quo, you run 15W?! Are you a big rider or do you just like slow forks?

this is an important issue thats why i responding suspension oil is designed to resist cavitaion(the formation of air bubbles) wich makes the oil even lighter. motor oil is designed to resist heat and friction. i always go higher than stock on my fork to be able to have more adjustability. sus oil does help resist heat to a point but if it too light it wont perform to the forks capabilities..
