You dont beleive our actions here might serve as a deterrant, or havent already?
Our actions have made one thing clear.

If you don't want to be invaded, you'd better have nuclear weapons. I'd guess the Saudis have either bought one or two or are working frantically on it as we speak.

Exactly how did we make that clear?

Because we didnt invade north korea at the same time as two other countries that our military was committed to? Please. NK's time will come, either through sanctions or a full on war. Marines trained only miles from the DMZ only last month actually.

uhh, NK and Lybia are cooperating not because of Bush and fear of invasion but because they both want solutions to the problems. Lybia made it very clear that they want to join the world economy and they actually claim to feel bad about Lockerbie etc. They've been negotiating a settlement with the UN for that for a while now. A settlement that will provide relief and ameds, but won't cripple 'em at the same time.

And actually, marines are pulling out of the DMZ, and coming home....they are starting the process of turning it over to the South Koreans. The US will still have a presence there, at the request of the south Koreans, who are out numbered by the North 10 to 1, but the majority of troops will be leaving. So there you have it....an example of the Bush administration getting less involved militarily and using diplomatic methods to try to convince them to not build up nuclear weapons.

I agree that Libya wants to increase particiption in the world economy, and end sanctions agains them....they're hurting financially. But I still maintain that since the US has demonstrated a willingness to fight, that it has made an impression on those two.....
I don't agree, however, that Khadafi "feels bad" about the bombing. He's just being practical.

Actually, there was a recent influx becuase of an annual training exercise that is now going on every year. Less US servicemen are getting stationed there, but Id venture to guess that more are arriving for short deployments to train in the area.

Whoa boy. There will never be an offensive action against North Korea. And what are you going to sanction? They are allready the most isolated country in the world. Wasn't the whole point of going into Iraq that sanctions don't work?

The people of Seoul would rather their city not get vaporized, I think.

Here's the article I was remembering.....actually, the south is outnumbered more like 2 to 1. (sorry I'll try to be more accurate) and the pullout is gradual thru 2011.ww.omaha.com/index.php?u_np=0&u_pg=54&u_sid=1065315

The "intelligence" was that Saddam had ties to Bin Laden and Al Qaida; either financial, or with supplied weapons. It seems that the latest tape from Bin Laden (if real) supports that- he is offering a truce to European countries if (among other things) they get out of Iraq, and says that the train bombing in spain was in retaliation for being there. Sounds like he's a good bud with Iraq. And he's a terrorist. And he likes Iraq. And they like him. And Saddam likes him. And he likes Saddam. They're buds.

Remember 9/11! Support our Troops! Why do you hate America?

(I don't know...I think that the guy who pushed Klinghoffer off the cruise ship was there, but I don't know if Saddam knew he was. And if that was a rationale, we should be in Pakistan, except for the fact that they also have nuclear weapons.)

If you live in Bizarro fantasy world, perhaps. Bin Laden likes Saddam just slightly more than he likes the United States or the Saudi royal family.

I'd assume he likes Saddam more now, for providing a nice distraction.

Ouch.
DAMN that liberal press for making me think that those two were united in their hatred of the great satan, weapons support, and finances. That's it...I'm only listening to Bill O'reilly from now on. Oh, wait he doesn't like beer........

Saddam ran a secular society and did not follow Islamic law and went to war with an Islamic fundamentalist Iran. Osama sees him as an infidel like the rest of us.

I am definitly not an expert on the subject of religion or middle east history and politics......I've just come to the conclusion that those two will support one another when it suits them......as with any goverment (including the US- i.e. our support of both in the past). And these days, it suits 'em.

Yep, there are a lot of Al-Queda types who have now warmed up to the Iraqi situation. But there was never any evidence found that old school iraq ever supported Al-queda. But I guess we now have the army and the terrorist in the same place.

It kind of comes back to the faulty intelligence thing.....

Personally, I think we should invade Holland next, and sieze control of the Heineken breweries, thus ensuring an affordable supply of quality brewskis for generations to come.

See, now I know you're living in Bizarro world.

Heineken lager and quality beer are two concepts that shouldn't go together in the same sentence.

I'd be up for shipping Schneider-Weisse to Southern California myself...

But if we're invading countries for beer, I think we need to seriously consider looking at Belgium.

reread my post. I don't believe he needs to apologize for anything. I believe that no one is perfect and that he should be able to recognize some thin gs that he could have done better, either in Iraq, Afghanistan, leading up to 9-11, or economically. Not knowing a single area he could have improved on, means that he believes he did a perfect job.

Again, I repeat, a man who cannot recognize a single mistake he has made in the past 3 years should be fired, because he not progressing or improving, and he is certainly not grounded in reality.
