Oh for the love of god. Like I really wanted to relive high school. Thanks a lot N8 ... you prick. ;)

Interesting list. Reads like a who's who of Idols for Abused and Rejected Children. :nopity:

Can't say I agree with some of the song choices, but over all a nice collection of classics. The Smiths at #1??? WTF????

Shut up and ride...
I have money, what kind of bike should I get?

I don't have money, what kind of bike should I get?

What shoes should I wear?

Should I go clipless?

Whats the best clipless pedal?

Whats the best platform pedal?

Who was the best female porn star?

Who shot JR?

There, I think I covered all the unambiguous questions of all time.

:p

EDIT:

Which fork should I get?

What shock is the best?

How was this list compiled? I dig some of the songs, but did they hold a vote? Most downloaded? What dictates "modern" if the song is from the 80's?

I dunno if it qualifies as modern rock, but the song "states of mind" by Senser should be on any list of songs that kick ass.

The Top 500 Modern Rock Songs of All Time!!!

http://woxy.com/music/mr500-06.php

I am digging the Top 25 for the most part....

:thumb:

HAHA! narlus is gone and can't make some uppity 'i know all' comment!!!

:p
but now that someone bumped it, i can shiit all over these choices.

actually, i like all of the top 25 songs (NiN breaks the streak), but there are a few odd choices in the top...'creep' as the best radiohead song? the 'mats 'alex chilton' (the production on that record aged horribly)? wtf? and what is the definition of 'modern' rock?

the buggles made the list... :blah:

who wants to bet that Wire's "Strange" only made it because REM covered it? weak.

89 Siouxsie & The Banshees Cities In Dust Tinderbox
:thumb:

94 Eurythmics Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) Sweet Dreams
:dead:

137 Buzzcocks Ever Fallen In Love Love Bites
criminal that this is so far down the list.

160 Guided By Voices Teenage FBI Do The Collapse
nice to see GBV getting some recognition, but i could literally and easily name 300 GBV/pollard songs better than this one. try me.

171 The Flaming Lips She Don't Use Jelly Transmissions Fromɼ/td>
a complete disgrace.

they could find 238 better songs before the Pavement reference? that's impressively retarded.

344 Tegan and Sara Walking With A Ghost So Jealous
450 Forget Cassettes Instruments Of Action Instruments Of Action
seriously, who are these people?

380 Robyn Hitchcock My Wife And My Dead Wife Fegmania
very odd hitchcock selection. nice to see him on the list, but w/ this song?

385 Mclusky To Hell With Good Intentions Mclusky Do Dallas
someone was paying attention. :thumb:

470 LCD Soundsystem Daft Punk Is Playing At My House LCD Soundsystem
would have selected 'losin' my edge'

i guess 'modern' rock means the exclusion of indie labels...aside from a couple of cursory Matador selections (pavement, liz phair, GBV) which i think actually had Capitol distribution (definitely the Phair, probably not the GBV, not sure on the Pavement), i can't think of another indie label represented...then again, welcome to the state of commercial radio. :dead:

All I know is "weirdo" was a sh!tty Charlatans song. "Believe You Me" would have been a better choice from them.

And they looked like hell on Later w/Craig ? the other night. Who would of thought Members Only jackets would be back in style.

I think it'd be interesting to distill this list down to songs released from 1990-1995, or 1990-1999 or something.
And personally, I think "If I Only Had A Brain" is the best MC 900ft Jesus track.
And wither the U.N.K.L.E.? "Rabbit In Your Headlights" is amazing, and remember that video that MTV banned?

i've bought 61 of the top 100...

100 of the top 176
i lost steam...ended up w/ 175 out of 500 (that i *bought*, not that i have...the total would probably add another 75-125 to the total, but there's some real sketchy stuff i'd never consider top 500 material in there...

i did notice mentions for grandaddy and neutral milk hotel, which was cool.
