You are aware that between the added tax revenue, the money saved on law enforcement, and the de-congestion of our judicial system, the legalization of drugs would pay for any increased load on the FDA many, many, many, times over right?

Essentially you loath the most fiscally reasonable option because you think it would cost us money...

After you legalize drugs personal freedom takes the place of alienation and estrangement as society's directive.

An upside to the legalization of hard drugs would be known purities for the end user. Instead of buying something on the street that has been cut x number of times with x amount of whatever was handy, maybe there will be available products that list ingredients and concentrations. This would save lives, bring in quality control, and help regulate supplies.


And most people I know aren't going to go out and say hey! Heroin is legal now, I'm going to go buy a gram! It'll be business as usual for most all.

I also think that the crime rings and drug lords will have a hard time bouncing back from a shift like that. There are still people to smuggle and prostitution, but a huge bread winner for most crime syndicates is drug money. They would have to go back to the drawing board and re evaluate their financial plans.
