That has been in the News quite a bit down here. It is a big mess, but the flip side examples that have been floating around are what make me support it. Here is a synopsis of the examples I have read (and agree with)
Some guy starts with you in a bar, your house, where ever. You get into an altercation that you did not start. You beat the living day lights out of someone (even though they started it). Then you get arrested for assault or something, because you didnt stop beating the piss out of them at some exact point in time you were no longer in eminent danger.
Of course there will end up being examples of the reverse down the road, it sucks, nothing is perfect, but I kind of like knowing I (or my friends and family) can defend themselves without having to worry about being arrested after the fact for it.
That's what I was thinking. Most places if some guy attacks me and I beat him stupid I could still be arrested, which is bullshyt. I think the law is a good idea but we'll see how it works out.
this is better than our (colorado) make-my-day law, for it's practically unbounded: not just your house, but your property, to include your garage and car. i also like how it's based upon ancient roman law. talk about gettin' medieval on someone!
it also has some good tort reform built in to the language.
we should follow the palestinian model; their homicide rate is due solely to military action, and they've got guns coming out of their ears...and their legs...and parts of their arms...and...
