Sort of. It’s not really for the money, though. I ‘work’ at a ski shop for a few days over the holidays, as a result, I get free skiing at Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee, and Snow King for the whole family, as well as any ski/bike gear at cost. I think last year I worked a grand total of 32 hours for this privilege.

It’s really common here. Lots of us old farts do this, it’s really fun and social, and I get to speak Spanish and some Portuguese all day long.
Seems like an awsome deal you got there.

And the cable/fiber guy is 3.5 hours late and counting for their 3 hour window appointment. I would simply cancel service as I have learned in the past week that hot-spotting off of my phone is technically sufficient for my needs. The problem arises with various subscription services that seem to be incompatible with such connections. Not just streaming services but annoying software like Solidworks will not run on my computer because of some stupid fucking license manager that needs to know my location. I tried several VPNs that failed to act as a work around.

Also Dassault can go fuck themselves, they truly ruined Solidworks which used to be a pretty amazing bit of software.

Wait until you hear about @eric strt6 - he's almost *70* and his wife makes him work 'cause show-horses.

:D
not quite, she makes 6x what I make, she pays for her own horse stuff. I work because she works from home and doesn't want me hanging around. Plus with my pay raise we are paying down the mortgage really fast plus investing in Tax Free Bonds and Bills. I will delay taking SS until 70 which will get me 124% of what I would have gotten at 65. My SS $ will cover the mortgage, insurance, and Taxes on our home, Hers plus our investments will have us on easy street well into our 90s if we make it that long

Not surprised. Dassault, the brains behind Catia. God I hated that software.

Yeah they basically bought Solidworks and just replaced it with Catia, I don't have to tell you how terrible that is. I heard all the Solidworks people then started Onshape, may have to give that a go.

At work it has been 8 years and billions of dollars trying to upgrade Catia to 3Dx and it has been a boondoggle of epic proportions that will likely end with spending a few billion more to move to Siemens, and if you have ever used Siemens software you know how bad things have to be for that to be the better alternative.

The day I left Bell Helicopter, 8 years ago, I kinda lost touch with everything in that field.
Can't say I miss the cube life.

While you’re often abrasive about Eric’s working life and dancing horses, I agree. I’m grabbing days even hours for living every chance I get. This life is not a dress rehearsal, as they say.
I give him shit 'cause I know he can take it - and he answers to himself and his lovely bride, not me.

At least, I hope he can take it. :D

also @SkaredShtles Text me if you’re at Copper or ABasin between now and Thursday.
I wish - I strongly suspect my season is over, although there might be a very *slight* outside chance of making some groomer turns come April or May... :(

When the dumpage comes in earnest, you bastids need to thank me for taking one for the team.

Sizeable fatbike ride done.
Surprisingly, no leg pain.
Maybe my old man medication is doing its thing.

HELLO

I've been in bed sick as heck since the 23rd. Been dosed up on neocitran and God knows how many edibles.

Head is quite foggy, but I no longer feel like I'm dying. And the cough only happens if I lay down.

Anyways, maybe tomorrow I can have a coffee and go for an easy ride.

We were in the same building. Never met.
Lucky. That you never met I mean. Did you ever meet his narrow-headed ex-wife?

anyway, I see his posts on Facebook. He skis now and then and still plays around with boats, both in Canada and in the Bahamas, I think? Never really figured out the latter. But I don’t like said posts so that the algorithm doesn’t decide to serve me up a bunch of his posts.

Their are a few folks here who need the occasional de-bunching but I think it is safe to say all the dainty little flowers have long since left this site.

Hey, I can one up him! So, after my sinus surgery, (6 days after shoulder replacement) I got a bad cold. I didn’t know if significant discharge was normal, doc said it wasn’t. Got Prednisone, etc. didn’t get better, got worse. Now I likely have the tail end of a sinus infection, and probably Covid to boot. Going to my GP now. Shoulder seems to be healing, though.
