Actually, at this point, I don't care.

I'm in the car, and the driver is drunk (or coked up...I don't know which Bush quit first, and I don't care.)

If the people who can vote want to put Bush back in, then they deserve it. When this country completely goes to sh!t (and show me a country that has wealth distribution like the US that hasn't), my wife and I are heading North anyways...

Good analogy... however I still care who wins. I will be more upset this time around though. Last time I was like, okay, lets see what this guys has up his sleeve... now that I know, I'm frikkin scared.

If things keep spinning out of control here, and people are still support of it, then I'll see you up north in 5 to 10.

The country will vote in they candidate they deserve. If Bush wins, I'll have that much less guilt about exploiting the public for personal gain...

Hopefully we'll have a chance to repair the damage before I consider having children.

Thanks for thinking of me N8, but if W(anker) wins I think I'll just be more disapointed in the American Public rather than suicidal..

After all, I already out... I did my time in the US and thoroughly enjoyed it, but New Zealand rules. I'm not leaving here anytime soon. I have one more place on my 'I would like to live in' list, and N8 for one isn't going to like it...

Seriously, all you intelligent monkeys SHOULD move out of the US..Vote with your feet. Maybe then the people who really control the elections would start to realise they can't push this **** any more.

My basis for not wanting Bush as my next pres has been based on what I see as horrendous strategic errors, and to a lesser extent, fear of/disagreement with his over-controlling social policies. (I thought conservatives wanted government OUT of people's lives...what gives???) However, I'm starting to think that I don't want Kerry in there, either, and I might even vote for Bush...but not for the reasons you might think.

See, no matter who gets elected in November, there are going to be enormous messes on his/our hands. If it's Kerry, he'll be attacked as 'weak' for not being able to sort it out neatly. Plus, he IS kind of a douchebag. Then again, I'd rather have a smart douchebag in charge than a dumb one. But I digress.

Anyhow, with this scenario, in 4 years, we'll get a landslide victory for some REAL nutjob who's going to have carte blanche to do all sorts of insane things.

However, if Bush wins, we'll either see: 1) Success for his policies, which I don't generally agree with, but at least we'll have success, or, (IMHO the more likely scenario) 2) Miserable failure for his agenda, in which case perhaps we can kiss poorly-engineered neocon schemes goodbye, and people will realize that 'safety' under him has been an illusion, as our military is taxed beyond belief, and he's continued to spend beyond our means for another 4 years. Under these circumstances, no Bush-like successor will succeed in 2008.

And hopefully the other party will have put forth a good candidate. I REALLY doubt that, though. It's just another big **** sandwich, and we're all gonna have to take a bite.

interesting reasoning, MikeD. as has often been the case recently i agree :thumb: : i dislike the erosion of civil liberties under bush but think kerry is little different fundamentally, and i would like to see bush's policies blow up on him. the problem is that continuation of bush's policies will mean many more lives lost...

Question here. I heard if you move to Canada you cant get a job up there for something like six months or until you establish residency. Is this true?

No, That's not true at all. When I was looking at Canadian immigration one of the best ways to immigrate is to have a job lined up. There's no 'waiting period' before you can be employed provided you have a work visa of some type (there are many) or have residency/citizenship. If you work for a large corp. see if they have a Canada office and just apply for a transfer.

How about Russ Feingold?

It's really a moot point though. The reality is that you have to be viciously partisan in the Republican primaries to get through, so that immediately pulls both candidates toward the right. The rise of the religious right as a political force doesn't help this much.

It also means McCain probably won't see a nomination (although I've lost respect for him stumping for Bush this year, I still would love to have him as President.)

In the 2008 presidential election I predict a race between Rudy Giuliani on the Republican's side and Hillary Clinton on the Dem's.

I just don't see the DNC throwing off the Clinton's yoke anytime soon (much to their detriment)...
