I'm not a wheel builder.

I've got a shot at a nice Chris King Rear Hub. Can I use my old Mavic 521 Rim w/ the new hub ? Spokes ? Nipples ?

Have an XT. King wuld be for weight, reliability, noise, looks in that order. Found one for ($245 new 32h 135mm ISO Disc Silver)

If the old rim is in good shape, no problem. I would not reuse spokes and nipples though. First you need to check www.dtswiss.com to see if they are the correct length. If not that answers that. Second, if the spokes are a season or two old, they will probably be near the end of their life anyway. Third , building a wheel with used spokes is kind of weird and the chances of getting a good strong wheel are lessened. The spokes will have taken on bends to correspond with their current lacing and hub flanges which will likely not match a new situation.

I once built a wheel with used spokes but it was brand new. I don't recall if it was a new hub or rim we were putting on for the guy, but it was a weird build. The tension seemed to come on all of a sudden. It worked fine for the guy but I did not like the outcome.

When you take the old wheel apart detension it first, that will ensure you don't do anything to your rim as you take it apart. ( I know it is fun to shoot the spokes across the room and all, but... :) )

Otherwise, don't use the same spokes and nipples as oldfart said and you should be fine!
