OMG!
THAT THING IS AWESOME! Don't change anything!

Ask on MTBR.com, they have a good vintage section.

I don't think so, but really I have no idea. All I know is that it's an old Trek 9000.

i remember those pogo sticks! i actually kind of wanted one. and that iron horse is awesome -- dave cullinan tore it up one year at the kamikaze aboard a bike that looked just like that iirc. :thumb:

Used to have a Pro Caliber from -91 ish..

Until some punkass kid went thru the fence and nicked it

Sweet bike.. Dumbasses who took it will never ever get it back together becouse of the Advance BB (oldschool preceeding shell BB with threads and stuff) that's just a unique titanium hollow axle and machine bearings pressed into the BB shell directly..

Grim faith for such a nice bike   :(

Isnt that the one that has so much rear travel that the shock only stops when the frame touches the ground? I've read about that bike in a magazine before.
It had maybe 2" of travel.....I almost bought one. I opted for a GT RTS because it had a Noleen coil over rear shock. Both were extremely high pivots and short on travel.

Ans that is a DH rig from the day not a XC rig from today :D Like Toshi said. Cullinan and DHing on the kamakazi.......ah dem wer da dayz. ;)

The Trek used a rubber (yes black rubber, kinda like a tire) for a spring and only after a while did they try any damping system for it. I think before they dumped it they went to an air shock (good choice) for is weight, damping, and inherant stiction to tame the 2" of travel. lol

PS- I think you are thinking about that one off DH bike with a mini-motorcycle fork (like a KX80 fork) it had like 6 or 8" of travel front and rear. I remember some magazine picture with it on a set of railroad tracks or something. :D
