Looking at a 2007 888 rc2xWC that needs new bushings. The oil was just replaced in the dampers. Can I invert the fork to drain the oil, then loosen the foot nuts and remove the lowers to get to the bushings without having to completely drain it?

According to the manual, I can remove the lowers and tap the bushings out. Is that true? Is it that easy?

I'd probably avoid any fork that 'needs new bushings' as a rule of thumb. Bushing changes are probably the hardest task on any fork, and the easiest to mess up. I have no direct experience with doing it on the 888 so open to correction, but I'd always spend an extra couple hundred for something that didn't need it.
