I'm curious why you think that.
Because you don't have to squat so deep when preloading the bike when cliped in.
you also tend to take one foot off less when clipped in. Or I do anyway. taking one foot off (vs pedals level) lowers you by whatever your crank length is. Hence more drop might be desirable

Makes sense. I think I tend to drop my heels about as much when I'm riding clips (more out of habit than necessity) so it doesn't make a big difference for me. Might be different for someone who isn't used to riding flats.

you don't need to drop your heels at all to pre-load a bike.

I'd get an E-bike if it could transform into a sexy robot slave.
They pretty much are robot slaves for climbing. You could easily watch porn on your phone while climbing long boring fire road climbs and attach some sort of fleshlight thing you your saddle if that's the sort of thing you're into?

Pretty much sums up Enduro.

I just noticed that my KS Lev has about quarter-half inch of sag, so I’m going to pick up one of these. Now to figure out if I can fit the 170mm version on my medium Scout. The collar of my KS post is about 3-4 inches above the seat post tube clamp.

It’s also pretty sweet that OneUp has its own Canadian distribution location, so we don’t have to muck with import fees or local shop tomfoolery.

Sounds like how much seattube insertion your frame has will be more important than that 3-4" you have to play with.
fnaarr fnaaar :brows:

OneUp has heralded their seatpost as the shortest overall length per drop of all droppers.
This is not strictly true.
The overall length OneUP measure does not include the (green alloy) actuator underneath the post.
Brand-X for instance measure their posts overall length INCLUDING the actuator assembly.
What this means is the useable insertion depth of the OneUp is not actually as good as the B-X. this may or may not be a problem for you. It was for me.

The Scout frames look to have limited max seatpost insertion depth. As did the frame I wanted to use my 170mm OneUp in.

installed mine last week (SUPER easy install); first ride revealed no side to side or vertical play at all. dropped when i pressed the lever. returned when i pressed it again. will report back after a few more thrashings.

There are two completely different Race Face droppers now. There's the mechanical locking one with the design that they licensed from... I think 9point8, which I've heard bad things about but have no personal experience with. Then there's the one that's just a Fox Transfer that says Race Face on it. I have two Transfers and they're great. I assume changing the etching from Fox to RF didn't fuck them up.

In any other walk of life, this would be unimpressive out of the box, but for mountain biking, and especially dropper posts, it's a freaking miracle.

Yes. It took me 3 days to fuck up the original RF dropper, and 18 months to fuck up the Transfer.

Anyone have a OneUp post, where it has like an inch of vertical play?

The post isnt sagging nor is it squishy.

But at any point in its travel, I can grab the seat, pull up, and it'll put the post out an inch or so. I can push it back down.

The post still seems to work perfectly fine, other than that... It's a V2 post.

Strange?

Am going to take it off, so we'll see...

Just don't pull your saddle up. I've got two 210mm one up droppers in use ATM but I can't say I've ever had the urge to pull the saddle up except for when the air pressure has needed a top up and it's not quite reaching full extension. but that's also with the remote depressed.
If your "issue" were from cable tension/friction or a faulty cartridge I'd expect sag as well.

Check to make sure the cartridge lockring at the top of the post (under the saddle clamp) is tight. It can loosen up and result in the sort of play you describe.

That's what I was thinking... Or maybe the bottom actuator had somehow spun out?

Just washed the bike and it actually doesn't do it when fully extended.

Tomorrow is ride night with the dudes, so I am making the smart decision of ignoring it until the weekend.

That's a total lost cause. At our local park it's a sea of bikes hanging by their dropper post.

one of my one up droppers spent most of Sunday afternoon hanging from chairlifts by the saddle.
_20241016_011244.JPG

If it's pulling up under just the weight of the bike it's fucked.
One up are good with warranty and spares.

[edit] if it's only lifting by less than an inch. and feels like play rather than having some resistance when lifted @OGRipper has probably diagnosed the issue.

internesting. wonder if tightening such a nut on my 5+ year old v1 will stop the valve from spinning when i try to unthread it when adding pressure?

Yes it will. Also add a bit of lube to the threads of the valve and pump.

Since I've used ONE CO2 cartridge on a mountainbike ride in the last 5 years. I'm gonna pass on relying on a gadget that needs charged.
Also AliXpress probably sell a version for a tenth of the cost of that.
