looking for inexpensive steel hard tail. so far, choices are down to

I rode a Jamis Dragon on some pretty technical trails(2 ft drops/ups) and really liked it. Looks to be very similar to the exile.

the jamis is ~900 and the rm is ~1400. 1500 would be the upper limit. looking for
the best combination of frame,components, and cost.

well the jamis is a nice bike but i have love personally for Rocky Mountains bikes. The extra money is gonna be in components and not in quality/constuction of frame.

If you are on a budget, look hard at the components. No XTR, no Race Face or ISIS anything. You won't want to take out a bank loan if you break something.
