Some crazy swiss guys got it to 14.5 kg's!!! And with no super non reliable xc parts. Race ready. So it's light enough.

Hi,

the frame in large size come to 9.97 pounds or 4.52 kg with rear axle and DHX 5 with 450 spring.

I weight it personnaly where i wheight my Socom at 4.01 with DHX5 and 350Ti spring without rear axle.

Mine is just under 9lbs with the shock and 400lb steel spring. Can't remember if I had the axle in or not. Its a small. It built up to under 37lbs.

This sounds about right. The size large bike is HUGE, there is a pretty dramatic difference between the two.

I think Seb has his 222 built up under 35, but with tons of insane light parts. He went as far as stripping the paint and using bladed road spokes i think? The 222 weighed a fair bit more than a 224.

keeping mine on the ground was hard enough :P

I now ride a 40lb DHi and am much happier, though I DO miss the floater!

It wasn't the light weight that was the problem with the 222 though, it was the way it locked out under pedalling - couldn't pedal over the rough stuff. 224 has a lower pivot so should be improved.

Lower and further forward. I don't miss my floater one bit on the 224.

Wait till you see next years bike. Was supposed to be an 08 model, but missed the boat time wise. 09 is even further forward and even lower. The frog rode it the last half of the season for Orange, it's a pretty good ride.

Yeah I rode a 222 with a floater and I couldn't tell the difference between it and my 224 under brakes. Oh Fraser, can you email me those templates please?:busted: giantkingsquid [at] gmail [.] com

i would hope its with the shock, otherwise it would be one hell of a heavy frame.

my s size vpfree was 9.2lbs with rear axle, seat clamp, dhx shock, and spring.

That's very light, are you sure? SC VP bikes always looked quite heavy to me.

FWIW my DHi is 9.3lb without shock, 11.0lb with DHX & 450lb ti spring.

something has got to be off with that scale saying 11.25 for frame and shock

we weighed out team bikes a few years back and all came in under 10 pounds with frame/dhx/and rear axle

I just weighed my sunday with a vivid/steel spring/ axle/headset and reducer cups...and it about 10.5

bottom line... the 224 is one of the lightest (if not THE lightest) DH frame on the market, and it would be hard to build one up that was more than 38 or 39 pounds

very sure, thats another reason i think SC is stupid. only if they tweaked the suspension on the vp so it didn't blow through mid stroke and make the geo more dh friendly. they would have had a socom about two years before the socom came out.

how awesome would that have been?

My DHX shock is 437g, and it's not uncommon for steel springs to be 500-600g, so that's almost 2.5lb, certainly gonna be over 2lb.

Our scale is accurate

that spring is 1000g and the shock is 500g

when orange weighed their bikes i would not be surprised if it did not include the paint and stickers, i am sure those stickers are mad heavy

The bike weighed in at 35.5 pounds built up with light parts and tubless

Go there is you wana c build

A one KILOGRAM spring? That I find very hard to believe (unless it was one of those two foot long Curnutt things).

They are as of today, our frames are leaving the factory via DHL as we speak. They may only be available in limited numbers though for now.
