Its quite a few years since i last raced but am reviving my old Orange 66 to do some of the local DH races just for the fun of it. Rather then servicing the rear shock old Fox DHX 3.0 that i never really liked I would like to just replace it. The biggest issue i always had with the current shock was it blowing through the travel on big hits. So I am looking for a shock that will resist bottoming but with out pogo sticking me off after as many with the old air assist reservoir shocks tended to do in the past. Any recommendations are most appreciated.

Rp23, seriously, I doubt you will overheat it and most importantly, it will counteract the ****ty falling rate setup of orange bikes.

Alternatively, if you've got a few pineapples spare, you could go a Cane Creek DB air, as they have a facility to adjust the air volume, you could fiddle to your hearts content with the spring rate.

Vector air is probably a good option. If you want a coil shock, then an DHX RC4 may work well.
