Umm, just how does he plan to "do away with exemptions for pre-existing conditions, stop drug companies from price gouging" exactly? Just askin'...

If the current president can throw people in prison indefinitely for no apparent reason, why can't the next nationalize the healthcare system at will?

Just sayin'.

Well, it's clear that there is a lot of price gouging going on, so if you see it, you can stop it. Also, many insurance companies (like the crap one I have now) make way too much money by denying claims based on pre-existing conditions.

If everyone had insurance to begin with, than there would be no such thing as a pre-existing condition, right?

Oh wait, I remember! I believe you're referring to those zany guys who were most probably caught firing AK-47's and RPG's at U.S. troops! Never mind.

What if the person was born with said condition?

It sucks to be poor or not work for a corporation that willl give you healthcare. I work for big pharma and I know I shouldn't bite the hand that feeds me, but the profits are out of hand and the consumer advertising is insulting.

For example, just look at any pharmaceutical company's annual report and you'll the marketing is usually 2 to 3 time that of the research- but people still believe it's the research.

i have great healthcare, but so should everyone else. yes, even if it costs me more.

The extra powers facilitated by the Patriot Act are used on US Citizens all the time.

Hahah, the Patriot Act is such a joke, even its name is a contradiction. Remember Benjamin Franklin's warning, "The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either. "

Wow, you are trying entirely too hard to bring home a lame point.

Talk to a co-worker about insurance claims who has spent about $10k in out of pocket expenses since his son was born with a cleft palate last year. If our health care systems wasn't so f-ed, this would be a non-issue.

Health insurance is a scam.

You convince the House and Senate to send you a bill that has provisions in it that makes pre-existing conditions conditions illegal. Then you sign it.

Voila! Now, since the Republicans have done such a bang up job the last bunch of years, I'd expect that if Obama is elected he's going to have a friendly legislative branch...

Just out of curiosity, and sorry to sidetrack, but do you guys think that companies would increase wages if healthcare were finally socialized and they weren't on the hook to pay for such benefits? Or do you think the tax increases needed to make this a reality would hit the businesses as hard as the workers, and that it'd all even out?

Dude.

We elected a retarded chimpanzee to arguably the most powerful position in the world.

Then, after he spent 4 years revealing his mental handicaps and simian ancestry, we elected him again.

In America, anything is possible.

I don't think salaries would go up automatically, but the chance for a raise could increase. I know with the rate health care has increased, my salary increases have gone down.

My company pays $1400 PER MONTH for my family plan that sucks! About 8 years ago, I had 3 times the coverage for 1/3 of the price. If that cost was reduced to say $200 a month employer paid, that leaves $1200 on top of the $200 I pay per month for a bump.
